A strong day from Geno Smith, an inaccurate day for Sam Howell, and a return to Seahawks duties for Marquise Blair.
The Seattle Seahawks wrapped up their third day of training camp practices (and their second in front of fans). Two weeks from Friday, they’ll be on a plane to Los Angeles for their preseason opener against Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers.
Here’s a recap of all the news, notes, and everything else worth seeing and knowing on this last Friday before August.
Seahawks welcome back Marquise Blair, say goodbye (again) to Jonathan Sutherland
In a surprise move, the...
The relationship between the quarterback and receiver is already starting to develop.
It is the connection we are all salivating over.
Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. are going to be the dynamic duo for the Arizona Cardinals, similar to the one that fans loved with DeAndre Hopkins and Kyler, but this one we are hoping for a long, loving relationship.
Walter looked at the big play yesterday with an expert breakdown of things, make sure to checkout his the in-depth look.
Today was another fun one. As the relationship is starting to develop, and trust in one another continues...
As ever, the Seahawks offensive line will undergo significant changes.
Seattle Seahawks training camp is underway! This is the first one under new head coach Mike Macdonald, and there are a lot of questions we hope to have answered regarding Macdonald, his staff, and the overall roster. Over the next several days we will have key questions across every position, with the exception of the all-encompassing special teams.
This article will focus on the offensive line. If there was ever a unit that could’ve yielded more than three questions, it’s this one. At some point in our lifetimes we’ll be...
What happened during Day 3 of 49ers training camp on Friday?
The San Francisco 49ers concluded their third day of training camp on Friday, which had a much different feel to it than Thursday’s scrimmage-heavy day.
With a number of key players not practicing, the 49ers had a very short practice in what seemed more like a reset day ahead of their final practice of the non-padded portion of training camp, which is set to take place on Saturday.
If you missed it, here are my three quick takeaways from what I saw on Day 3 of training camp.
Now,...
How will defenses try and slow down the Rams and Sean McVay in 2024?
Ever since Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has entered the NFL, defenses have made a concerted effort to slow down his offense. In 2017 and most of 2018, the Rams dominated the NFL with their wide zone run game and play action off of that. With the use of 6-1 looks and odd fronts, McVay was forced to shift off of that. The next version of the Rams offense in 2021 utilized more empty looks. However, with defenses limiting explosive plays, the Rams were...
It was a major rest day for the 49ers as they had a short practice on Day 3 of camp.
The San Francisco 49ers wrapped up Day 3 of training camp on Friday, which had a much different tone to it than Thursday’s practice.
After an eventful day that involved a good amount of team drills on Thursday, the 49ers had a much lighter practice on Friday that wrapped up quickly, while a number of players did not participate.
Here are three quick takeaways from Day 3 of 49ers training camp.
One of the bigger takeaways...
Trips left. short motion right, RPO play action, QB waggle left, chunk yard strike to MHJ over the middle
Here is added proof as to how focused Kyler Murray has been in mastering his footwork. Take a good, close, several-times look:
Pre-Snap Intentions:
We already knew Purdy was going to get paid, but Tua’s new deal confirms as much.
The Miami Dolphins gave quarterback Tua Tagovailoa a four-year, $212.4 million extension that comes with $167 million guaranteed. Based on guarantees, Tua is now eighth among all NFL contracts. By the end of the day, that might change if the Green Bay Packers pay their quarterback.
The more quarterbacks who get paid, the more Brock Purdy smiles. If the San Francisco 49ers and Purdy continue to excel and win at the rate they have, it’ll be difficult for the Niners to pay Purdy less...
Following the injuries to cornerbacks Derion Kendrick and Darious Williams, the Los Angeles Rams have signed former Detroit Lions defensive back Jerry Jacobs according to Jordan Schultz.
After losing Kendrick to a torn ACL for the season and a hamstring injury to Williams, the Rams needed some experienced cornerback depth. That doesn’t mention the injury history and limited workload that Tre White will have throughout training camp as the team gets him up to speed.
Some might be surprised that the Rams didn’t sign Ahkello Witherspoon after he spent the year with the team in 2023. This was after head...
Tom Pelissero listed the Rams defense performing well as a non-negotiable for L.A. to make the playoffs
NFL Insider Tom Pelissero was hosting the Rich Eisen Show recently, and he went through a list of “non-negotiables” for each team in the NFL to make the playoffs. During his coverage he eventually found himself discussing the NFC West, and for the Los Angeles Rams he expressed that LA’s defense needs to be ready to roll early and often for this team to find themselves in the postseason.
Full disclosure this topic of “non-negotiables” is supposed to be somewhat fun as Pelissero...
Seattle swapped safeties ahead of Friday’s training camp practice.
Welcome back, Marquise Blair.
The 2019 second-round pick has returned to the Seattle Seahawks following Thursday’s workout. Blair was not on an NFL regular season roster last year after most recently spending time on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad. The former Utah safety had two season-ending knee injuries in three seasons with the Seahawks and has had limited playing time since he was let go by Seattle in 2022.
ESPN’s Brady Henderson notes that Blair, who was released by the Eagles last April with a non-football injury (NFI) designation, suffered an...
Rams trade for Roy Robertson-Harris in this hypothetical scenario
Fair or not, all pressure will be on the L.A. Rams’ defense in 2024 to figure out how to move past Aaron Donald’s retirement. Replacing one of the greatest defenders ever is an impossible task for the Rams and it’ll likely take a committee approach to replicate the effect Donald had. One writer might have a solution for how to boost LA’s depth along the D-line.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine proposed the Rams should send a fifth-rounder to the Jaguars in exchange for defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris:
“What the Rams...
