Good morning Gang Green Nation!
The New York Jets were active on the NFL waiver wire yesterday, claiming three players: tight end Jelani Woods, offensive tackle Esa Pole, and linebacker Cam Jones. In corresponding moves to make room for the additions the Jets cut wide receiver Tyler Johnson, linebacker Zaire Barnes and offensive tackle Marquis Hayes. The Jets also nearly filled out their 16 man practice squad, signing 14 players. The heavy lifting of building the 2025 Jets is almost done. Now the team turns towards preparing for the season opener against former Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh...
The Jets have begun signing players to their practice squad. The team has 17 spots available. One must go to an international player. Ten must go to players with two years or less of NFL experience. The final six spots can be used on any player with no restrictions. We will do our best to stay on top of practice squad signings.
Dean Clark, S
Brady Cook, QB
Harrison Mevis, K
Kohl Levao, G
Leander Wiegand, G (International Player)
Jamaal Pritchett, WR

The Jets were awarded three players off waivers on Wednesday.
Of the three, Woods is likely the most significant move. He could see a lot of playing time for a Jets offense that has no proven players at tight end. Woods had a solid 2022 season in Indianapolis but missed the last two seasons completely due to injury. In 2022 it was a hamstring. In 2023 it was turf toe. His ability to stay on the field is questionable, but by most accounts Woods had a strong preseason. He quite possibly is the best tight end on the Jets roster...
The Jets set their initial 53 man roster yesterday. It is sure to change in the days ahead. In fact, there’s a good chance it will change today after waiver claims are announced. What can we say about this roster?
One of my biggest frustrations in NFL roster maintenance is when a player’s Draft position becomes a determining factor in whether he stays or goes. I think these decisions should be based on merit. They frequently aren’t. High picks get much more leeway than low picks who get somewhat more leeway than undrafted free...
Starting today, the Jets will sign members of their practice squad. Here are the answers to the most likely questions you have.
You probably will not be surprised to hear that it is exactly what the name makes it sound like. The Jets and other NFL teams are allowed to have up to 17 players who are not part of the 53 man roster but are allowed to practice with the team.
There are two primary reasons. First it gives teams a chance to develop young players...
Good morning Gang Green Nation!
The New York Jets cut their roster down to 53 players yesterday. There were a few decisions I would have made differently, but for the most part there were no major surprises. Today NFL teams put in their waiver claims for players waived over the last few days. There are some interesting players available at positions of need for the Jets, so I’m hoping the Jets will be active with waiver claims today. The Jets rank 7th in waiver priority. We’ll know later this afternoon if the Jets made any successful claims.
Here are your...

Let’s take a look at how things stack up in the AFC East before the season according to our partner, FanDuel Sportsbook.
Unsurprisingly, the Buffalo Bills are the favorites in the division currently at -270. Buffalo is currently the heaviest favorite in any of the league’s eight divisions. The second choice is the New England Patriots at +550. It’s no surprise to see New England in the second position. The Patriots had a busy offseason and plenty of hype with new head coach Mike Vrabel and second year quarterback Drake Maye. In the third spot is the Miami Dolphins at...
With the season right around the corner, let’s check Jets odds according to our partners at FanDuel Sportsbook.
For winning the Super Bowl, the Jets are currently at +2250, the third worst odds ahead of only the Browns and the Saints.
When it comes to making the Playoffs, the Jets are at +490. To miss the Playoffs, the Jets are at -750. Both put the Jets as fourth most likely to miss the Playoffs ahead of only the Giants, Browns, and Saints.
The Jets are also the fourth least likely to win 10 games or more at +600.
To win...
It is cutdown day in the NFL. Let’s talk about the key things to know.
The Jets need to cut their roster to 53 players by 4:00 pm Eastern. This will mostly be done by releasing players.
It depends on how much experience they have. For players with more than four years of time in the NFL, the process is simple. Their contract is immediately terminated, and they become free agents. They can sign a new contract with any team.
Players with less than four years of experience...
The Jets are required to cut their roster down to 53 players by 4:00 pm Eastern.
The team has gotten a head start in advance of cutdown day. Below is a list of players already cut, traded, or placed on a reserve list that keeps them on the team but does not require the Jets to use a 53 man roster spot on them.
The Jets will also need to make a decision today on Irv Charles. Charles remains on the Physically Unable to Perform List, which is where he began training camp. The Jets can opt to keep him...
Good morning Gang Green Nation!
It’s cutdown day. NFL teams have to get down to 53 players on their roster by 4 pm today. The New York Jets still have plenty of work to do as they are currently 22 players over the limit. While there are plenty of holes at the back end of the roster that could be filled with waiver claims, it remains to be seen what players will become available. In addition, the Jets rank 7th in waiver priority. The Titans, Browns, Giants, Patriots, Jaguars and Raiders all have higher priority than the Jets, so if...
