After watching multiple starters leave for bigger paydays elsewhere in free agency, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be counting on several players to step into more contributing roles in 2026. That’s true on offense and on defense.
Yet, given how Jaguars general manager James Gladstone operated in free agency, it seems Jacksonville had anticipated a lot of competition heading into the team’s 2026 training camp. At this point, it’s up to Liam Coen and the rest of Jacksonville’s coaching staff to get the most out of the talent on hand, and past connections could help fuel that progress.

Not every position battle is created equal. Some determine depth, while others could shape the Cowboys’ ceiling in 2026. Let’s analyze some of the position battles that could determine the Cowboys’ fate this season. We know Brian Schottenheimer has declared left tackle an open competition, but it’s hard to believe he isn’t using a motivational technique on Tyler Guyton, so we’re skipping it here.
This is the only offensive group on this list, and it’s on here because of the question marks behind Javonte Williams. Williams accounted for 52% of the Cowboys’ rushing attempts last season, 56%...

We’ve talked about the insurance the Cleveland Browns have had on Deshaun Watson’s contract in the past, but how much money has the organization actually saved over time?
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk was asked by a fan how much Cleveland saved due to an insurance policy of Watson missing the entire 2025 season. Fans had feared at one point that Watson would recover sooner and try to force a return to action, which could negate that insurance policy. Even though Watson returned to some team activities, he was never activated.
According to the NFLPA records that PFT obtained,...

The Washington Commanders failed last season due to many reasons. Injuries undoubtedly played a major factor as the team flipped their record from 12-5 in 2024 to 5-12 in 2025. Franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels was limited to just seven games due to various injuries, but he wasn’t alone.
As a whole, the Commanders regressed on offense and defense. Their fifth-ranked scoring attack from 2024 slipped to 22nd in 2025. Defensively, the Commanders went from 18th in 2024 in Dan Quinn’s first season as Washington’s head coach to 27th in 2025. That type of performance won’t be accepted in DC in...
The Commanders have arranged a veteran addition in the secondary. Rasul Douglas plans to sign with Washington, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
Per Schefter, Douglas’ deal will be for one year. It will carry a maximum value of $3.8MM. Washington’s cornerback room will receive a boost once this agreement is officially in place. Douglas is a nine-year veteran who has spent much of his career as a full-time starter.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Commanders are signing CB Rasul Douglas to a one-year deal worth up to $3.8 million.
Douglas, 30, was a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2017. The Panthers claimed him off waivers from the Eagles in September of 2020.
Douglas played out the final year of his four-year, $3.17 million contract and made a base salary of $754,750 for the 2020 season with Carolina. He later signed a one-year, $990,000 deal with the Raiders, but Las Vegas released him during camp.
He quickly caught on with the Texans but was among their final...
NFL Trade Rumors
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League.
Today, it’s why the Steelers have struggled against the top teams in the NFL over the last decade, and if there’s hope for Mike McCarthy to be able to reverse the team’s fortunes in that regard. Without a franchise quarterback, the team is looking at long odds against the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. But the Seattle Seahawks in 2025 proved that it’s possible.
What does McCarthy...
Future first-ballot Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers decided to return for one final season seemingly because of the opportunity to reunite with head coach Mike McCarthy. However, recent comments offer one reason to be concerned about what that could mean for the Pittsburgh Steelers offense this fall.
Speaking to Chris Adamski of TribLive.com ahead of his final NFL training camp, Rodgers said that the offense McCarthy is implementing for the Steelers this coming season has a lot of “stuff that we used to run” in Green Bay but just with different names.
“”I spent 13 years in (McCarthy’s offense)....
Despite being drafted two years ago, Bralen Trice has yet to play in the regular season. The Falcons edge rusher should be available for training camp this summer, though.
Trice suffered an ACL tear which kept him sidelined for his entire rookie season. The former third-rounder then aggravated the same knee last summer. That resulted in a move to injured reserve covering the start of the regular season. Trice never managed to see the field.
Things appear to be in a better place entering camp in 2026, however. Trice was a participant in spring work, [as detailed by team reporter...

In last year’s NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints selected Vernon Broughton from Texas with the 71st overall pick in the third round. The 6’5”, 311 lb. player was expected to have a large role along the Saints’ defensive line in 2025, but was sidelined for a majority of the year after suffering a season-ending hip injury in his regular season debut. Fast forward to this offseason, and Broughton was finally cleared for participation in March, but now faces an uphill battle to earn snaps in a competitive DL rotational group.
New Orleans put itself in a position to improve...

Training Camp continues to get closer and closer as it starts July 28th, and that will be the time we have football until February, which, for a blog site, we need!
Over the summer, it becomes hard during the downtime to find things to talk about that haven’t been touched on over 100 times this summer, not only by me, but the other writers on this site, but this is what the summer is for.
I get to do more opinion-based posts, and just give my thoughts. With that said, this is exactly what this post is about on a...
