The Washington Commanders were inside the bubble for today’s practice due to high winds in Ashburn, VA. The team is preparing to travel to Philadelphia on Sunday to face the Eagles in the season finale. It’s the holiday season, and that means some players have been dealing with illness over the past few weeks. Last week Chris Rodriguez Jr. missed the Cowboys game on Christmas day due to illness. Bill Croskey-Merritt missed practice yesterday, but was a full participant today. WR Treylon Burks is the latest player to get hit with an illness, and he didn’t practice.

This week, Commanders running back Bill Croskey-Merritt has been nominated for the 4th time this season as the Pepsi Zero NFL Rookie of the Week for his outstanding effort in the team’s Week 17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
While Croskey-Merritt’s season has had a number of ups & downs, he has worked hard to become a dependable runner and pass protector. Three times before this he has been nominated for (and won) the award for his highly productive games against the Giants in Weeks 1 & 15 along with his first-ever NFL 100-yard game...

Aside from the 31-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Commanders stayed competitive in the second half of the season. They forced overtime in back-to-back weeks against the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos, the latter of which was in contention for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. They also held a 10-7 halftime lead in their first matchup with Philadelphia.
Last week’s game against the Cowboys presented bigger challenges, as the Commanders were down to third-string quarterback Josh Johnson without...

Happy New Year from the other side of the international date line, Commanders fans!
The Commanders cemented their hold on 7th place in the draft order in a hard-fought, but ultimately unsuccessful 23-30 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
This late in a losing season, teams begin to look more to the future than the present. As disappointing as the Commanders’ 13th loss may have been to some, others will derive hope from some promising signs from some of the younger players on the roster, who seized opportunities when regular starters were sidelined with injuries.
Most notably, second year DT...

The Washington Commanders were back on the practice fields for the final week of the season. They had a long break after hosting the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas day and now they’re preparing for their last road game of the season. The Commanders visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and will either help their draft position, or hurt the Eagles playoff seeding.
Washington placed C Tyler Biadasz on injured reserve today, ending his season. He suffered ankle and knee injuries during the Xowboys game on Christmas day, but won’t require surgery. C/G Julian Good-Jones was signed from the practice squad...

There is no elegant way to contextualize a 4–12 season, and by the time Washington limps into Week 18 of the 2025 campaign, the answers are no longer found in weekly matchups or marginal schematic tweaks. They live instead in first principles: roster construction, identity, and the type of foundation the organization wants to build as it stares into 2026.
First, context, because folks, this is not a roster one premium free agent signing or a blue chip prospect away from getting back to an NFC title game. It is a group that lacks talent and connective tissue on defense,...

The Washington Commanders made four roster moves before today’s practice. The team placed starting center Tyler Biadasz on injured reserve after he suffered ankle and knee injuries vs the Cowboys on Christmas day. He was rolled up on during a play, and was wearing a leg sleeve and walking boot after the game Dan Quinn told reporters that he didn’t require surgery, but he was unlikely to play in the season finale against the Eagles on Sunday.
The Commanders made several practice squad moves to go along with shutting Biadasz down. Julian Good-Jones was signed to the 53-man roster to...

Moves on the offensive line
Speaking of injuries, several players on the offensive line are dealing with issues that either could or will keep them out of Sunday’s game. Tyler Biadasz, who left last week’s game, suffered ankle and knee injuries. Biadasz will not require surgery at this time, Quinn said, but the veteran center will likely be unavailable.
Things are murkier with left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who is dealing with an oblique injury. Tunsil can move straight ahead, but turning and torquing is difficult for him,...

Washington Commanders tight end Ben Sinnott amassed a career-high in targets (four) and receptions (three) against the Dallas Cowboys in week 17, gaining 29 yards on those three catches. While he’s averaging 29 percent of offensive snaps on the season, his percentage has skyrocketed over the last three games due to Zach Ertz’s injury, as he’s now playing 62 percent of the snaps. While many in the Commanders fan base have questioned throughout the season why he has not been more involved in the offense, Ertz’s absence has given him more exposure and the opportunity to see targets.
What’s really...

Throughout the 2025 NFL season, SB Nation’s Doug Farrar writes about the game’s Secret Superstars — those players whose performances might slip under the radar for whatever reasons. In this installment, we focus on Washington Commanders defensive lineman Jer’Zhan {Johnny) Newton, who seems to finally be living up to his potential for a franchise that could use every bit of good news it can get right now.
The 2025 season is not something that anybody involved with the Washington Commanders wanted — or expected. A year after Jayden Daniels enjoyed perhaps the greatest rookie season any quarterback has ever had,...

As in Week 17 against the Cowboys, Marcus Mariota may miss the Commanders’ Week 18 matchup with the NFC East champion Eagles on Sunday because of injuries.
Coach Dan Quinn said Marcus Mariota did not participate in a “very light jog-through” Monday, leaving his status uncertain for Sunday’s finale at Philadelphia.
Third-stringer Josh Johnson started against the Cowboys and would start again Sunday if Mariota can’t go, Quinn said. The only intrigue would be whether Jeff Driskel or Sam...
