Sam Howell speaks to the media before today’s practice
Sam Howell answered questions from reporters before today’s practice. He’s coming off his third win as an NFL starter, and preparing to face the Buffalo Bills at home on Sunday. He is continuing to work on getting the ball out faster, and also throwing the ball away, because “ and incompletion is better than a sack”. The touchdown catch was something they wanted to do in the game, and he had faith that Terry McLaurin would make the catch if he put it in the right spot.

Week 3 of the college football season saw a few teams fall in classic rivalry games. Florida sent Tennessee tumbling down in the rankings while Missouri pulled out an improbable win against a ranked Kansas State team. The Pac-12 continues its strong play as a conference with Colorado surviving a scare from rival Colorado State.
Next week is chock-full of big games. There will be a top ten showdown between Ohio State and Notre Dame. Florida State will take on Clemson. Pac-12 conference play gets underway with two ranked-on-ranked matchups in Colorado vs. Oregon and UCLA vs. Utah. Penn State...

Only two games into the season, the Commanders’ new offensive coordinator is already on a roll
Making snap judgments early in an NFL season is done at one’s own peril, because things often change quickly in pro sports’ most dangerous workplace.
The Washington Commanders, however, already have something good cooking, and new offensive coordinator...

A film session detailing why Eric Bieniemy’s screen designs were effective against the Denver Broncos
Washington's offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy, provided a new and dangerous element to his offense with the screen designs he used against the Denver Broncos this past Sunday. On the four called screens from Bieniemy, Washington averaged 21 yards per catch, with an opportunity to score on a couple of them, too.
Several factors make his designs a dangerous element. To begin, the timing in which he called them against the Broncos' aggressive defensive front created a favorable situation for Washington to get blockers in space...

Happy Victory Tuesday, y’all!
Thank God it’s Tuesday! We are two weeks into the season we have been waiting for all summer. After two wins, the Commanders are showing the fans—and the league—that we aren’t the easy out people were chalking us up to be amidst all the offseason upheaval.
The Cardinals win may have been ugly, and that ugliness may have spread to the beginning of the Broncos game, but in both cases...
The Cheese remains
The fact that a long snapper has been getting headlines over multiple weeks is never a good thing, and that’s a problem for the Washington Commanders. Camaron Cheeseman was drafted to be a stable player who never got much attention from fans unless they watched Tress Way’s Hang Time online show. Cheeseman reportedly changed up his snapping technique before this offseason, but there have been issues since training camp, and now they’re showing up in the games that count.
Cheeseman had another bad snap this week, skipping the ball to Tress Way. The play resulted in a...
Week 3 matchup
The Washington Commanders host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, September 24th for their third game of the season. They came back from a 21-3 deficit to beat the Denver Broncos. Washington scored 35 points for the first time in 2 years, and started the season 2-0 for the first time since 2011. Their offense found some of the juice it was missing in Week 1, and the defense took over the game in the second half again.
The Bills lost their season opener against the New York Jets, even after Aaron Rodger went down with an Achilles...
Welcome to the middle of the pack at 2-0
The Washington Commanders are 2-0 for the first time since 2011, and people really don’t know how to feel about that. A lot of power rankers have been reluctantly, and slowly, moving Washington up their boards, but you can tell they are waiting for the first loss to slide them all the way back down to the bottom of the league. Washington has defeated the Cardinals and Broncos to start the year, and that’s not going to excite many people, but the Commanders looked better in Week 2, and against better...
The Commanders survive a late scare and the altitude at Empower Field
Any NFL game in Denver comes with a football version of caveat emptor – beware of the altitude and the effects it has on players. The Washington Commanders shrugged off those concerns, and after a poor start, the good guys began to mount a comeback after trailing by eighteen points halfway through the second quarter. The Burgundy and Gold were underdogs, but they found a way to overcome and achieve. Let’s have a look and assess game two against the Broncos. Note: We will include PFF ratings today....
