The Denver Broncos have completed training camp, are 2-0 in the preseason after two dominating performances, and are now nearing the point where they will need to trim their roster down to 53 players. I did a 53-man roster projection for the Broncos before the start of training camp, and honestly, not a whole lot has changed. Some injuries and breakout performances have elevated players, but overall, this 53-man roster should look fairly similar to my earlier projection.
So, with all that said, here is my post-training camp 53-man roster projection for the Denver Broncos.
*(Note: I am keeping Nate...
Sean Payton decided not to play most starters in the second preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. While fans likely were disappointed in not seeing the starters play, this provided an excellent opportunity for us to see the depth of the roster and what they bring to the table.
The big thing I learned from this game is that the Denver Broncos were extremely smart in hiring Sean Payton (loss of draft picks be damned). Their roster depth from when he was hired compared to what we see on the field this season is a night-and-day difference.
Honestly, I’m impressed...
The Denver Broncos offensive line took a major hit with the season-ending injury to guard Nick Gargiulo. That opens up some questions with the line depth overall heading into the final preseason game. Last week, the offensive line depth chart looked like this:
Theoretically, this moves Clay Webb into that second-team position. However, that isn’t likely how it...
Earlier today, Denver Broncos insider Mike Klis reported the Broncos had signed fullback Adam Prentice. In order to make room for Prentice, a corresponding roster move had to be made. According to Zac Stevens of DNVR, offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo has been placed on injured reserve. That news was confirmed by Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette.
After an impressive camp and preseason performance against the San Francisco 49ers, things were looking up for the second-year pro. Unfortunately, a right leg injury suffered in the second half of yesterday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals resulted in him being carted off...
According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos are signing former Saints and Broncos fullback Adam Prentice.
The former Colorado State fullback signed as an undrafted free agent with the Broncos back in 2021 but was eventually waived by them during the cut-down period. He would be claimed off waivers by Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints and stay with the team through the 2024 season. In that span, he appeared in 48 games for the Saints, which included 13 starts, and recently, he appeared in all 17 games for the Saints last season.
There has not been...
The Denver Broncos have come a long way just a few seasons into the Sean Payton era. After inheriting a team that won just five games in the short-lived Nathaniel Era, the Broncos have embarked on an impressive rebuild in a short timeframe. Those efforts have turned them into a playoff contender, with the hopes that they can eventually reach even greater heights this season and beyond.
One of the best ways to measure the depth and talent of a team is competing against your peers in the preseason. In yesterday’s impressive performance against the Arizona Cardinals, it was clear...
On day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, Sean Payton, not known to be an early riser, texted GM George Paton at 6:00 AM, telling him to get Franklin. Well, the Broncos were able to trade up with the Seahawks and would go on to select wide receiver Troy Franklin.
Due to Payton’s desire to get him and his connection with quarterback Bo Nix, many had high hopes for Franklin during his rookie year. However, he struggled early and, despite showing flashes at times, had issues with drops, consistent playing time, and fell behind fellow rookie wide receiver Devaughn Vele...
We learned a lot from the 27-7 home win by the Denver Broncos last night. During that dismantlement of the Arizona Cardinals, we learned the Jarrett Stidham is a pretty darn good backup and we learned that the running back competition is all but sorted out. The latter is the topic I want to cover today.
While rookie RJ Harvey started, it became clear by halftime who were backs three and four with Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin getting most of the reps. Badie looked good with 32 yards on six touches and McLaughlin also had a good night with...
Lionel Taylor is one of the best and most important players in the history of the Denver Broncos.
One of the “original Broncos” could also be classified as one of the most underappreciated in team and league history. The experienced members of Broncos Country know about Taylor and what he meant to this franchise. I’m not sure if that’s the case for the younger generations. As was the case with Floyd Little, Taylor was the Broncos’ offense. There’s a great special on Taylor when he finally was able to make it back to Denver for...
The Broncos improve to 2-0 in the preseason after a 27-7 victory over the Cardinals. It was another dominating performance by the Broncos, who showed off their depth once again and held the opposing team to just one touchdown.
The vast majority of the Broncos’ starters did not play in this game, but we did see many key young players and backups make significant plays, helping to solidify their roles and roster spots on the team. So, with all that said, here are the winners and losers from the Broncos’ victory over the Cardinals in week 2 of the preseason....
The Denver Broncos hosted the Arizona Cardinals for their second game of the preseason. The energy of the crowd was palpable with many fans in attendance for tonight’s festivities. From start to finish, the Broncos dominated and earned themselves a decisive 27-7 victory. Here are some of my instant reactions from tonight’s game.
Broncos’ second-team offense ignites with veteran quarterback Jarrett Stidham at the helm
With the most all of the starters sidelined for tonight’s game, the Broncos’ backups were able to get a lot of quality reps and playing time. However, one starter who saw playing time over the...
The Denver Broncos didn’t play most of their starters, but one player sure looked like an elite starter out there. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham had himself a game against the Arizona Cardinals a week after having himself a game against the San Francisco 49ers. The guy just commanded the field out there and could not be stopped. Through two preseason games, Stidham is 30/38 for 376 yards and four touchdowns. He led the offense to scoring drives in four of their first five offensive possessions.
There are still questions about the Broncos first-team offense, but we’ll need to wait until Week...
