Opponent perspective on Philadelphia’s upcoming matchup.
The Philadelphia Eagles are traveling to SoFi Stadium this weekend to take on the Los Angeles Rams. It’s a sneaky important game for the Birds.
In order to preview this Week 12 battle, I reached out to our enemies over at Turf Show Times. The ebullient Evan Craig kindly took the time to answer my questions about this upcoming tilt. Let’s take a look at the answers. [For my answers about the Eagles, stay tuned to TST.]
Injury updates
The Washington Commanders enter their Week 12 game against the Dallas Cowboys with the benefit of a 10-day break between games following their appearance on Thursday Night Football versus the Eagles last week. The Cowboys, meanwhile, are on a short week, having played and lost to the Houston Texans on Monday night. The two teams that opened and closed Week 11 will play at Northwest Stadium in Landover on Sunday at 1pm.
Today’s injury report is the first one we have seen since the final game status report for last week’s matchup with the Eagles. Due to the...
It’s “a part of the business,” says Dexter Lawrence
New York Giants players on Wednesday reacted diplomatically to this week’s change from Daniel Jones to Tommy DeVito at quarterback.
With a crush of media in the locker room, the quarterback switch was of course the only question anyone really cared about.
“I haven’t seen discouragement, I haven’t seen guys fall apart, and that starts to happen first,” said Dexter Lawrence.
Lawrence, who entered the league with Jones in 2019, admitted to taking the news hard.
“Definitely hard, but I’ve been a part of this business, just like last...
The New York Giants returned to the practice field on Wednesday afternoon in preparation for a Week 12 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Before heading out into the unseasonably warm temperatures, head coach Brian Daboll took the podium to speak with reporters.
The good news is that linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux has been designated to return from injured reserve (IR) and had his 21-day practice window open. But Daboll expects him to return long before that, even indicating that he could play this Sunday.
“We’ll open up Kayvon’s window, so he’ll start,...
Bryce Huff will miss time with his wrist injury. That’s according to all of the beats, who MYSTERIOUSLY tweeted the same thing at the same time, citing a “source” –
Huff was playing better during the winning streak. He’s got 2.5 sacks and a stuff since the Cleveland game. The Eagles will look to Jalyx Hunt for increased snaps, or so we thought. The beats say he was off to the side at Wednesday’s practice. The Birds still have Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, and Brandon Graham at the EDGE position.
Interestingly enough, in the fallout of the Jets being...
QB Jayden Daniels speaks to the media after practice
Jayden Daniels spoke to the Washington sports media after practice on Wednesday.
Jayden talked about the importance of practice, and agreed with Dan Quinn that the offense was not ‘clicking’ against the Eagles. He said that the extra days off allowed him to ‘reset’ but added that he’s glad to be back and to reset for the second half of the season. He said that he enjoyed the opportunity to watch football over the long weekend off, including watching the Cowboys’ MNF game “as a fan, just to see some football...
All Cowboys fans care about these days is the NFL Draft.
Wash, rinse, repeat. That feels like the Cowboys season right now as each week we go through the motions of a football game only to lose, and then repeat the process all over again. There are only so many ways to describe a season as bad as this one. There will be no playoff tracking, no tie-breaker scenarios, no dreams of a Super Bowl run. Instead, there is only one thing left worth playing for.
The 2025 NFL draft.
That is the reward for this miserable season. As long...
Dan Quinn’s Commanders suffer their first back to back losses
The banged up Commanders travelled to Philadelphia for their second game in four days and came up short against the division-leading Philadelphia Eagles. The Commanders led the game through three quarters, before giving up three rushing TDs in the fourth quarter.
Through 11 games, the Commanders have established that they can defeat losing teams and play tough against good teams. But they have yet to show that they can beat a real championship contender. Even so, with 7 wins in the bag, and only 2 teams with winning records on...
Philadelphia’s primary punt returner could be back on the field soon.
The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced three roster moves on Wednesday afternoon. An overview:
Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.
Covey suffered a shoulder injury back in Week 3. At the time, he said he expected to miss at least six weeks. The Eagles placed him on injured reserve.
At...
Jones looked like QB4 at Wednesday’s practice
Daniel Jones appeared to be QB4 for the New York Giants on Wednesday as they practiced in preparation for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jones, the starter when healthy since taking over for Eli Manning in 2019, was replaced this week by Tommy Devito.
Jones was fourth in line Wednesday in drills during the portion of practice open to media. DeVito, Drew Lock, and newly-signed practice squad quarterback Tim Boyle all went before the deposed former starter.
When the Las Vegas Raiders benched Derek Carr in a similar situation in 2022,...
It is going to be interesting to say the least to watch the Cowboys and Giants on Thanksgiving Day.
Next week’s Thanksgiving game between the Cowboys and Giants was uninspiring at best; two of the league’s worst teams in a nonepic struggle. But New York decided to throw a little seasoning on the matchup with a big move, announcing that QB Daniel Jones will be benched in favor of Tommy DeVito.
Jones’ struggles in 2024, his sixth season, are no secret. Of the top 32 quarterbacks in passing attempts, he ranks 30th in passer rating over just DeShaun Watson and...
Washington hits the field for practice
The Washington Commanders returned to the practice field today after Thursday’s 26-18 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Many eyes were on Jayden Daniels to see how he looked following what was the least impressive performance of his outstanding rookie season, and to Marshon Lattimore, the veteran 4-time Pro Bowl cornerback who had not yet practiced fully or been active for a game since the Commanders acquired him from the Saints at the trade deadline on November 5th.
