Giants will now hope they can re-sign both pending free agents
Azeez Ojulari is staying put. For now. After shopping him prior to Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET NFL trade deadline, the New York Giants decided not to trade the 24-year-old free-agent-to-be edge defender.
Several edge defenders were traded before the deadline. Preston Smith went from the Green Bay Packers to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Za’Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns to the Detroit Lions, and Baron Browning from the Denver Broncos to the Arizona Cardinals.
Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Giants wanted a late fourth-round or early fifth-round pick...
The New York Giants are releasing cornerback Nick McCloud, reports Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
The Giants are releasing CB Nick McCloud, per source. Started 5 games this season + good special teams player (gunner).
Giants came to McCloud during the season trying to get him to take pay cut. Before a game he started.
McCloud was playing on 1-yr, $3 million deal as a RFA.

McCloud was claimed off waivers from the Buffalo Bills in August of 2022 and had played in 38 games (starting 16)...
The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 8-0 on the season after defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 30-24, in overtime on Monday Night Football.
The Manning brothers, Peyton and Eli, naturally covered the game on ESPN on their popular weekly program, the ManningCast, on ESPN2.
After the Chiefs win, the 43-year-old two-time Super Bowl MVP did a celebratory headstand to the delight of his brother and their guest, comedic actor Jason Sudeikis (“Ted Lasso”).

The New York Giants lost their seventh game of the season on Sunday to the Washington Commanders. Their 27-22 defeat at MetLife Stadium gave Washington a season sweep over the Giants. Washington (7-2) had not swept the Giants since 2021, and has done so only twice since 2011.
Unlike most games this season, the Giants’ defense was mostly to blame. Dexter Lawrence and other defensive players echoed this observation after the game. The defense had several blown coverages that Washington didn’t capitalize on, and their inability to get off the field proved devastating for the Giants.
Washington had an 11-play,...
New York Giants news for Election Day
Good morning, New York Giants fans!
The New York Giants have been without kicker Graham Gano since he suffered a hamstring injury on the opening kickoff in a Week 2 loss to the Washington Commanders.
Since then, they’ve used both Greg Joseph, who is now on injured reserve (IR) with an abdomen issue, and the Irish-born Jude McAtamney.
But that hasn’t been the only hit on special teams.
The Giants have also been without punter Jamie Gillan since Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks after he suffered a hamstring injury. Although he wasn’t placed on IR, the team has ruled him out in four consecutive games....
The New York Giants are 2-7 at the midway point of the regular season and their playoff hopes are all but dashed. Despite that, there will be few changes.
It will remain business as usual in East Rutherford, and that includes Daniel Jones staying under center as the team’s starting quarterback.
“He is,” head coach Brian Daboll said when asked if Jones would continue as the starter. “Nothing changes.”
While that news comes as a surprise to some, especially considering the financial implications should Jones get hurt, it shouldn’t. He played his best game of the season in Sunday’s loss...
New York Giants second-year cornerback Deonte Banks was hoping he could get his season on track after getting benched in Week 8 halfway through the team’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Banks came into Sunday’s game against Washington aiming to shadow the Commanders’ top wide receiver, Terry McLaurin, who he had success against in the first meeting in Week 2.
But it wasn’t Banks whose study paid off in the second meeting, it was McLaurin’s. The former Ohio State standout beat Banks twice for touchdowns.
Banks has now allowed six touchdowns in the Giants’ first nine games this season and...

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to cap Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season.
The Buccaneers (4-4) have found themselves an answer at quarterback in former first overall pick Baker Mayfield. Mayfield came into Week 9 leading the NFL in touchdowns with 23 through the first 8 weeks of the season. However, things went gone very wrong for Tampa Bay back in Week 7 when both Chris Godwin and Mike Evans suffered significant injuries. Godwin suffered a dislocated ankle and was placed on Injured Reserve after getting surgery to...
Wading into the free agent pool for roster help
Welcome to the Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 10! A strange this is happening on the NFL injury front this season. Wide receivers have been dropping like flies with a wide array of injuries, while running backs, remarkably, have for the most part stayed healthy. It’s a reverse of what we’re accustomed to seeing and it’s had a huge impact on both the NFL and fantasy football this season. It’s also had an impact on the waiver wire. I went back and looked at some of my waiver wire columns...
