What are the odds?: How will Year 2 go for Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders?

What are the odds?: How will Year 2 go for Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders?

The preseason is over and the Washington Commanders now shift their focus completely to the regular season opener against the New York Giants. They are coming off a dream season that saw No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels lead his recalibrated team to the NFC Championship game, getting one game away from the Super Bowl. That performance earned Daniels NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and set future expectations sky-high. It seemed that Adam Peters was also feeling some of those elevated goals when he traded for a veteran LT (Laremy Tunsil) and WR (Deebo Samuel), but he’s still only...

Report: Terry McLaurin signs 3-year extension that is worth up to $96 million with the Washington Commanders

Terry McLaurin has signed a 3-year extension with the Washington Commanders that is worth up to $96 million per Adam Schefter. This locks up their #1 priority for an extension, and pays a team captain coming off of his best season, working with the best quarterback of his career in OROY Jayden Daniels.

Terry McLaurin’s contract status has been hanging over Washington’s head for most of the offseason and almost went into the season. The market for WRs exploded this year as $30m/year was quickly made the minimum for a WR1. Terry McLaurin was attending OTAs, but started his holdout...

Commanders camp lessons: Impact rookies, expanded scheme and a fantasy sleeper

The rookie class could be memorable

The Commanders selected just five players in April’s draft, but early returns suggest the class will make an outsize impact on the franchise. Josh Conerly Jr. may or may not be a Day 1 starter, but the improvement he has shown while transitioning from left tackle to right tackle at age 21 has demonstrated his athleticism, intellect and diligence. Cornerback Trey Amos walked in as a starting-level player. Jaylin Lane will be the Week...

Film Session: Jacob Martin showing his value as a situational pass rusher

Film Session: Jacob Martin showing his value as a situational pass rusher

In Washington’s preseason matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, edge rusher Jacob Martin showed his value as a situational pass rusher. Earning a 77.8 PFF grade, Martin had an extremely active night in just roughly 20 snaps, accumulating four pressures, three hurries, one quarterback hit, and a half-sack.

Martin is a pass rush specialist, and well over half of his snap counts on Monday night were pass rushes. In April, I broke down the eight-year veteran’s film with the Chicago Bears last season. His toolbox is vast, with his initial burst, bend, and hand usage within his rush plan. Before the...

Commanders Vs. Ravens (preseason game three) – Studs and Duds

Another preseason game, another butt-whooping!

Dan Quinn can NOT be happy with the performance of this team during the three preseason games. Thankfully, training camp is over and preparation for the up=coming season is now under way. However, if Washington comes out slow against the Giants, there may be some questions that need to be answered.

On a slightly positive notes, the Commanders, for the most part, came out of the preseason fairly heathy, and a few guys who have been banged-up recently returned.

Below are my Studs and Duds of the game, followed by some notes.

2025 Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Awards: Who has the most hype after the final game?

2025 Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Awards: Who has the most hype after the final game?

This award was started as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to players that fans push to the moon before they play a snap, or after one great performance in the preseason. But it also puts the focus on some of the unheralded players who fans hype up and have a fighter’s chance at making Washington’s roster. Colt Brennan was a great college player that lit up the preseason, but injuries and other issues saw him flame out in the NFL early. RIP Colt and thanks for the inspiration.

Terry McLaurin watches as Commanders close preseason with a thud

After he didn’t attend Monday night’s preseason game with an excused absence in the midst of a months-long contract dispute, McLaurin arrived at Northwest Stadium on Saturday morning.

In a black hoodie with a Louis Vuitton backpack over his shoulder, McLaurin strolled through the tunnel a few minutes after 9 a.m. as Commanders players and coaches trickled into their locker room. Wearing burgundy, team-issued sweats, he stood in the end zone during pregame warmups, chatting with linebacker Bobby Wagner. He ambled...

NFC East News: Sam Howell traded to the Eagles

NFC East News: Sam Howell traded to the Eagles

Sam Howell has just been traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. This will be Howell’s fourth team, and he’s been traded three times. Howell was a 5th-round pick by the Washington Commanders in 2022. He became the starter the following year, and led them to a 4-13 record. This led to HC/GM Ron Rivera getting fired, Adam Peters and Dan Quinn getting hired, and Jayden Daniels getting selected No. 2 overall.

Howell was traded to the Seahawks after he went for a walk with Adam Peters. He served as Geno Smith’s backup, before getting traded to the Kevin O’Connell QB Rehabilitation...

Dan Quinn talks about getting outplayed in all three phases by the Ravens; too many turnovers

Dan Quinn talks about getting outplayed in all three phases by the Ravens; too many turnovers

Dan Quinn spoke to the media after today’s 30-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It was the Washington Commanders third and final preseason game, and Quinn wasn’t happy with getting outplayed in all three phases of the game. Washington’s backup QBs also turned the ball over 4 times today. Sam Hartman had two interceptions and a fumble, and Josh Johnson added another pick in when he relieved him.

Brandon Coleman was originally on the list of players who were sitting out today’s game, but he wanted the reps after missing weeks with a leg injury. Quinn said they will always...
