Yes, you’re reading the title correctly. With the 150th pick, the New Orleans Saints took South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler. New Orleans now has five quarterbacks on the roster.

Spencer Rattler had to rebuild his career. He played at Oklahoma for three years (2019-2021) before he was benched for Caleb Williams. At Oklahoma, he played in 19 games with 4,595 passing yards 40 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He was also named first-team Big-12 in 2020.

Panthers Rookie Profile: Trevin Wallace

Panthers Rookie Profile: Trevin Wallace

The new Panthers linebacker might have the right mentality, but what else can be expected from the 72nd overall pick?

If you’ve heard it once, you have heard it a thousand times: Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan wants some ‘dawgs’ on his team. He may even want dawgs more than former GM Dave Gettleman wanted hog mollies, and that’s really saying something. Did Morgan keep his word, did he target dawgs in this draft?

Well, Trevin Wallace seems to think so. Wallace, the former Kentucky Wildcat who was selected by the Panthers with the 72nd overall pick after a...

Breaking down the post-draft depth chart on defense for the Falcons

Breaking down the post-draft depth chart on defense for the Falcons

The Falcons have question marks dotting the defense, but a strong base to work with.

The Atlanta Falcons improved a year on the defensive side of the ball, though they cratered late in a way that put a dark cloud over that side of the ball thanks to injuries and ineffectiveness. The challenge this year won’t just be sustaining those modest gains, but exceeding them, ensuring the expected offensive improvement for Atlanta doesn’t go to waste.

The Falcons have put curiously few resources into ensuring that happens, with a major investment via the draft along the defensive front and a...

Trade Down Island: Five truths the Panthers front office can learn from Bill Barnwell’s analysis

Barnwell’s lengthy (and excellent) ESPN article provides objective proof of the benefits of living on Trade Down Island.

For those of you who have bought property on Trade Down Island, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell wrote an extensive article about the risks of trading up. His column was dripping with more juice than the ripest pineapple on TDI.

The column is excellent work by Barnwell and if you have 20 minutes to kill I encourage you to read it. But for those of you who prefer to have your benevolent dictator review it on your behalf and provide you with state-sponsored talking...

Falcons fans split on whether Atlanta was a winner in the 2024 NFL Draft

Falcons fans split on whether Atlanta was a winner in the 2024 NFL Draft

After a week to consider the Falcons’ 2024 NFL Draft class, Atlanta’s fans are nearly evenly split on whether or not the team came away a winner.

The 2024 NFL Draft has come and gone, and the Atlanta Falcons certainly created a stir in league with their selection of quarterback Michael Penix Jr. at 8. It has since come out that as many as three teams were trying to trade into the top-10 for Penix, per NFL Network’s James Palmer, so perhaps the pick wasn’t the reach that many perceived it to be on the night of the draft. At...

Potential Post-Draft Buccaneers Free Agent Signings

Potential Post-Draft Buccaneers Free Agent Signings

The NFL Draft is over but could more free agent signings occur before training camp?

The NFL Draft brought injected some promising, fresh talent into a Buccaneers roster that was already on the precipice of another NFC Championship last season.

Hopes should be high for this squad, as there doesn’t appear to be many glaring weaknesses on the roster, especially after addressing several key areas with four top 100 draft picks.

That said, there are still some intriguing veterans on the market who the Bucs might explore to further round out the depth chart ahead OTAs and training camp. Let’s...

Breaking down the post-draft Falcons depth chart on offense

Breaking down the post-draft Falcons depth chart on offense

How do things stand on the side of the ball we’re expecting to improve?

The Atlanta Falcons offense isn’t quite a finished product yet, but it’s getting close. Atlanta has the quarterback position sorted, have running back pretty locked down, and probably are only set to make tweaks to wide receiver, tight end, and the offensive line between now and the season opener.

That makes it a fine time to check in on the likely depth chart for offense, which hasn’t changed significantly since the 2024 NFL Draft. Free agency brought aboard a few starters and key depth pieces, and...

The Falcons appear set to place a big bet on young players and coaching at cornerback

The Falcons appear set to place a big bet on young players and coaching at cornerback

Perhaps cash is coming, but right now, the Falcons appear content.

The Atlanta Falcons have signed five cornerbacks since free agency opened. Two of them are veterans, with 2023 part-time Cardinals starter Antonio Hamilton and comeback-hopeful and former Packers corner Kevin King joining the roster before the draft. Three of them are undrafted free agents, from North Dakota State’s Jayden Price to MidAmerican Nazarene’s Anthony Sao to Minnesota State’s Trey Vaval. That’s it.

This is a fairly striking thing, because this is not a proven, high-end group of cornerbacks. Jeff Okudah started a significant portion of the season in 2023...
