Your open thread for Thursday Night Football
Week 12 will kick off with a game between AFC North rivals as the Cleveland Browns host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football.
These are two teams headed in opposite directions, as the Steelers have taken control of the division with an 8-2 record behind Russell Wilson and a fantastic defense.
The Browns, meanwhile, are 2-8 on the season, and are coming off of a bad 35-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints. They’re also a team searching for long term answers at the quarterback position as they grapple with expensive bust...
Injury updates
The Washington Commanders enter their Week 12 game against the Dallas Cowboys with the benefit of a 10-day break between games following their appearance on Thursday Night Football versus the Eagles last week. The Cowboys, meanwhile, are on a short week, having played and lost to the Houston Texans on Monday night. The two teams that opened and closed Week 11 will play at Northwest Stadium in Landover on Sunday at 1pm.

Cowboys fans may not have be getting much from their own team, but there’s plenty to root for from others.
Not much went the Cowboys' way last week. Their own game aside, few of the other results helped improve Dallas’ position for the 2025 NFL Draft. Hopefully, the Week 12 games offer more assistance to our long-sighted goal.
There were a few close calls from last week’s rooting guide. The Jets and Bears both lost by only one point to the Colts and Packers, respectively. A win by New York would’ve put them slightly above the Cowboys in winning percentage,...

The Cowboys early game on Sunday feels like just another reminder of how far behind in the NFC East they really are.
When the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders meet on Sunday afternoon in Landover, Maryland, it will be the 127th all-time regular season meeting between these two teams in a series that began in 1960. The Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles have also met 127 times, with the Eagles marking the occasion in Week 10 by becoming the fourth visiting team of 2024 to win at AT&T Stadium. Followed up with a home win over the Commanders, the Eagles are...
Thursday news and updates.
The Philadelphia Eagles issued their second official injury report on Thursday in advance of their Week 12 road game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Eagles listed two players under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: DeVonta Smith and Bryce Huff.
Smith sat out again on Thursday. Two missed practices typically don’t bode well for a player’s chances of playing. If DeVonta can’t suit up, the Eagles will roll with the following wide receivers: A.J. Brown, Jahan Dotson, Britain Covey (assuming he’s activated from injured reserve), Johnny Wilson, and Ainias Smith.
Huff had wrist surgery on Thursday. One would...
Daniel Jones was emotional, but typically accountable as he met with the media on Thursday for what might have been his final press conference as a member of the New York Giants.
Jones arrived to the podium inside the Giants’ Quest Diagnostics Training Center, an unusual occurrence for a mid-week interview with a prepared statement. The No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft said that playing for the Giants had been “a dream come true” and said that he was “100 percent accountable for my part” in the Giants being 2-8.
Jones, normally stoic, grew increasingly emotional as...
Closer look at Philadelphia’s scheme.
In addition to writing the All-22 offense and defense reviews after each Eagles game this year, I will also write this one called ‘Concept of the Week.’ I will break down a specific concept or play on offense and defense and explain the play in more detail. Hopefully, this will allow you to look out for that play in future weeks. This week, we will look at Kenny Gainwell’s big run against Washington, which came on a concept called ‘Crunch’.
“Crunch” is a type of trap play. It’s a rare concept involving a...
The Cowboys injury report for Thursday.
If you favor the Dallas Cowboys tanking for a better draft pick over the team playing for an unprecedented playoff push without several starters, including their starting quarterback, injuries might decide the issue. Dallas lost another player for the year after Markquese Bell suffered a season-ending shoulder injury against the Houston Texans. As the Cowboys have their second practice of the week, the injury report is as long as it’s been all season. Here’s what we know after Thursday.
DaRon Bland (foot) practiced in a full capacity for the second consecutive and is trending...
The New York Giants took the field on Thursday for their second of three practices ahead of a Week 12 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Beforehand, head coach Brian Daboll met with reporters and expressed optimism that edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux would be activated from injured reserve (IR) and play on Sunday.
“Encouraged,” Daboll said.
Even if Thibodeaux suits up on Sunday, defensive coordinator Shane Bowen said that fellow edge rusher Azeez Ojulari has earned the right to play, hinting at a rotational snap share.
Meanwhile, nose tackle Dexter Lawrence, who...
The Daniel Jones era has officially come to an end for the New York Giants.
On Thursday, following a session in which he took practice squad reps at safety, an emotional Jones said thank you and goodbye to the organization that drafted him.
Jones read from a prepared statement as he met with reporters.

The Daniel Jones era in New York is all but officially done.
He has been benched as the Giants’ starting quarterback in favor of fan favorite Tommy DeVito.
Ex-Giants receiver Victor Cruz recently spoke with Mackenzie Salmon of USA TODAY Sports’ “Sports Seriously” about several topics, including Jones.
“They’ve seen enough from him,” said Cruz. “I think it was a rebuild move for the entire team moving forward.”
Cruz also discussed the Giants’ decision to invest in Jones over Saquon Barkley, who is having an MVP-caliber season in Philadelphia.
“You let Saquon walk out the door with nothing in return,...
