Well, that’s incredibly annoying.
The Philadelphia Eagles were primed to overtake first place in the NFC East.
In what was their most encouraging win in some time, the Birds beat the Cincinnati Bengals by 20 points to advance to 5-2.
And then it looked like the Washington Commanders were set to drop to 5-3. Down three points and down to their final play from their own 48-yard line, they needed a miracle.
Much to the Eagles’ chagrin, the Commanders got one with Jayden Daniels heaving up a Hail Mary touchdown to Noah Brown.

The Philadelphia Eagles are 5-2 after beating the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium on Sunday afternoon! Final score: 37 to 17.
Now THAT was a win that should make one feel pretty encouraged about this team’s overall outlook! There’s no “but it was only the [bad team]” caveat this week.

Was that the best Eagles win of the season? Sure felt like it.
They went on the road, scored 37 points, and didn’t turn the ball over. They made timely defensive plays, picked off Joe Burrow, and stuffed the Bengals on 4th and 1. Jalen Hurts was clean and effective both throwing and running, the offense hit on explosive plays, then they iced it with a bulldozer of a drive that went 85 yards and took 7:37 off the clock.
