Ghoul-Ash and Hyper Sauce

Eh heh heh heh heh heheh! Welcome kiddies, to my crypt of recipes! This week’s tale hails from the Pacific Northwest, just in time for the spookiest season. Halloween is just the warmup for what follows, eh heh heh heh! It’s time to go full MAGA as we Make America Goulash Again! I HOPE you enJOY this hair-raising take on a cauldron classic! The extra meat ghoul-ash is to die for, eh heh heh heh heh, but the stir-in hyper sauce will have you in the... espresso lane. Eh heh heheh heh!

Ghoul-Ash with Hyper Sauce

Serves: 6-8
Active Time: 25 min
Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

16 oz box of elbow noodles
1 lb ground chicken
1 lb mild Italian pork sausage
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp garlic powder
1⁄2 onion, slivered (see below)
2 jars of spaghetti sauce (24 oz each)
14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes
1⁄4 cup of strong coffee
1 packed Tbsp of brown sugar
1⁄4 cup hot sauce
2 Tbsp of your favorite weaponized hot sauce
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
You’ll need: A large pot/cauldron, a smaller pot/cauldron, high-walled fry pan, two coins for Charon if you’re not careful with the sauce

  1. Cook noodles per box instructions; drain and add to pot. (While noodles are cooking, preheat frying pan to MED/HIGH.)
  2. Add chicken, sausage, and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Brown meat until it reaches a safe internal temperature for consumption, stirring occasionally (about 10 min).
  4. Add slivered onions and continue cooking/stirring until onions start to become translucent (about 3-5 min).
  5. Add meat and onions to pot with noodles; stir in spaghetti sauce and tomatoes.
  6. Heat goulash on LOW to let flavors combine, stirring occasionally while preparing hyper sauce. I let it go for about half an hour to really blend things together but you don’t have to do the same.
  7. Add coffee, brown sugar, and hot sauce (both kinds) to small pot on LOW; simmer, stirring frequently for about 10 min.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in butter; enjoy Ghoul-Ash and Hyper Sauce together or separate.

Wingin’ It Tips and Prep Gallery

It’s goulash, the tips are a definite minimum here. I show the slivered onions only because it’s Halloween and I was aiming for a fang or zombie fingernail look. Another shot shows them in the pan, nearly done. There’s a shot of the sauce to show off the darker color, almost like a chocolate look, and finally a similar shot to the...
