Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts have been racking up rushing touchdowns for the Philadelphia Eagles this season.
Hurts is now on a five-game rushing touchdown streak, and in three of those games, the Birds quarterback recorded multiple scores.
Despite the run of touchdowns, Hurts consistently has higher odds to score a touchdown than Barkley on a weekly basis.
No touchdown odds are listed yet for Sunday night’s clash with the Los Angeles Rams, but it’s likely that Barkley will have the lowest odds to score among Eagles players.
When you widen out to a league-wide perspective, Hurts and Barkley are among the most consistent scorers on the ground in the NFL.
Only Derrick Henry has more rushing touchdowns (13) than Hurts (11). Joe Mixon, David Montgomery, and James Cook all have 10, while Saquon has eight.
While five players have double-digit rushing TDs, only Henry and Hurts have low odds to lead the NFL in rushing scores. If you’ve been eyeing those futures with PA sports betting, Henry is a -200 favorite at DraftKings and -140 at FanDuel to have the most rushing scores. Hurts is +140 at FD and +230 at DK.
The odds for the rest of the pack are significantly different between the two big sportsbooks. Barkley is +2000 at FD, but he is at +1000 and one of six players listed at +1000 or lower at DK. Only Henry and Hurts sit under +1000 on FD.
The two Eagles players actually have a better chance to run up the scores because of their easier schedule and Baltimore’s Week 14 bye.
The Birds still have to play the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys again, as well as the Carolina Panthers. All of those games will be significant because the Birds will be competing with the Detroit Lions for home-field advantage.
Meanwhile, Baltimore has a tough Monday night matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 12 and they still have to play the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans. There are only two really easy games left on Baltimore’s schedule against the Giants and Cleveland Browns.
With that in mind, Barkley is the consensus favorite to lead the NFL in rushing yards. Henry currently leads 1,185 to 1,137, but as I noted earlier, the Ravens have played one extra game, and it just so happens that while the Ravens are on bye in Week 14, the Birds play the Panthers.
It’s not the juiciest futures bet, but that’s worth hammering right now because the path is there for Saquon to open up a gap of about 100-150 yards going into Week 15.
