The Bears predictably dipped following their loss.

Sunday’s loss continues to reverberate around the NFL world with more talk about how everything went wrong for the Chicago Bears on the final Hail Mary. And then all of the head-scratching decisions made by the coaches both on that play and throughout the course of the game.

The loss to the Washington Commanders looks to be a pivot point in the season for the Bears.

They could bury this loss and push on with winnable games coming up and make it a bad memory. Or it could continue to bring up the shortcomings so many have pointed out about Matt Eberflus and spiral the season down a path no one wants to go down.

The season is at the halfway point, and it’s time to really settle in and for teams to be who they are going to be down the stretch. The Bears, for the most part, sit in the middle of the power rankings this week.

Will they finish the season moving up or continue going down? That remains to be seen.

14. Chicago Bears (4-3) Previous Week: 11 Sunday was a rollercoaster for Bears fans. It started badly, looked like it was going to end well but the heartbreak will linger for weeks. Chicago finds themselves in a position where they almost need to win their next two games. Why? They’ll start an eight-game stretch of NFC opponents, including all six of their divisional games. Some key games ahead.

14. Chicago Bears (8) They didn’t play great against the Commanders, and losing on the final play on a Hail Mary could devastate this group. It will challenge coach Matt Eberflus to get them to bounce back.

11. Chicago Bears (12): You probably think they lost Sunday’s game due to Daniels’ already epic Hail Mary. Sure. But the Bears really lost when they opted to hand off to OL Doug Kramer at the 1-yard line with little more than six minutes to go, the gimmicky play producing a killer fumble instead of a crucial touchdown. This team is really good … but needs to get out of its own way at times.

14. Chicago Bears 4-3 (11) Caleb Williams and the Bears can perform well when they are getting the running game going, but they seemed a little rusty passing after the bye. They just need to emotionally pick up the pieces from a victory being wrestled away by a miracle throw.

17. Bears (No. 14; 4-3): They should trade Tyrique Stevenson to the Commanders, since at the end of Sunday’s game it felt like they already had.

13. Chicago Bears (11) Fresh off the bye, the Bears appeared to stunt all of the progress they’d made with Caleb Williams and the passing game, opening Sunday’s contest...
