Washington announces 5 moves before the Steelers game
The Washington Commanders announced several roster moves as injuries continue to add up. UDFA rookie TE Colson Yankoff has been placed on injured reserve. He had been ruled out for this week’s game with a hamstring injury. That opened up a spot on the 53-man roster to sign RB Chris Rodriguez from the practice squad. He was elevated last week, and had his best game as a pro. That was his third elevation this season, and he needed to be signed to be active. Starter Brian Robinson Jr is missing his second game in a row with a hamstring injury.
Kicker Austin Seibert was questionable with a right hip injury, and he has now been downgraded to out. It was reported yesterday that the team was signing Zane Gonzalez to the practice squad, and the team made that official today. They elevated Gonzalez and he’ll be the team’s kicker, but long snapper Tyler Ott was added to the injury report earlier today with an illness. Left guard Nick Allegretti is the back up long snapper, which would be an interesting first-time pairing.
Washington released DE Efe Obada this week to make room for the trade for CB Marshon Lattimore. He was signed to the practice squad and has now been elevated for the Steelers game tomorrow. Obada has versatility on the defensive line, and provides good depth for a game that will be a battle in the trenches.
