Week 5 going poorly leads to emotional reaction between head coach and QB
The Cleveland Browns once again were destroyed in Week 5 against the Washington Commanders. Midway through the third quarter, the Browns were down 31-6 and had not gained 100 yards on offense.
The blame goes all over the place for Cleveland with the offensive line playing poorly, no rushing attack at all, poor play calling, a defense that is significantly worse than they were last year and overall an undisciplined team. There were two highlights from the defense including a goal-line interception.
Highlighting the struggles on offense was a third-quarter drive with the score 24-3. After the second turnover created by the defense, the Browns offense found themselves with a 1st and goal at the two-yard line. What followed was bad offense:
On fourth down, down 21 points, QB Deshaun Watson started walking off the field which seemed to frustrate HC Kevin Stefanski as seen below:
A different video seems to show that Cleveland did not have the right amount of players in the huddle as Watson did not engage with the huddle and WR Amari Cooper is counting:
Despite the strong reaction from Stefanski toward Watson, the QB returned to the field on the next drive.
At this point, no matter who you want to blame, it is obvious that it is not working but the team doesn’t have options with Watson due to his contract and Stefanski just signed an extension this offseason.
