It’s that kind of season.

How unique was the Jets’ Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots?

Of course these numbers don’t tell the whole story of the game. I’m sure almost all of the other 750 teams in this category turned in dominant performances. The Jets, meanwhile, played an exceptionally sloppy game, committing 8 penalties, wasting 4 timeouts to avoid delay of games, and missed a pair of kicks. The defense also wasn’t as dominant as New England’s yardage totals would suggest. The Patriots’ lack of production was due in part to their receivers’ inability to hold onto the football.

On the other hand, the Patriots being so mistake-prone in this game is a reason the Jets still were in a position to get a victory.

That’s the thing about being a team this bad. You find new and inventive ways to lose on a week to week basis. Unfortunately that is one of the few things the Jets are good at.
