New Orleans gets their second win in a row under interim head coach Darren Rizzi.

The Good: Erik McCoy’s return & Taysom Hill

The New Orleans Saints Swiss Army knife was more like a one-man army on Sunday. Hill caught 8 passes for 50 yards, completed one pass for 18 yards, returned one kick for 42 yards, and ran 7 times for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Saints offense looks completely different when Hill is in the lineup, as he arguably has the highest ceiling of production of anyone on offense. Center Erik McCoy returning to the lineup for the first time since he went down a few plays into Week 3 also helped, as the Saints are now 3-0 with both Hill and McCoy healthy. The Saints are averaging 428 total yards and 42 points with a 3-0 record and a +83-point differential in 3 games with McCoy playing a majority of snaps and are averaging 317 total yards and 17 points with a 1-7 record and a -81-point differential without McCoy in the lineup.

The Bad: Passing Defense

The Saints defense gave up 395 yards and 2 touchdowns to Jameis Winston while also not grabbing a single interception. The Browns inability to finish drives is what saved the Saints on the scoreboard, as the Browns turned it over on downs twice and also missed two field goals. The Browns went on a 92-yard touchdown drive early in the second half, which combined with an 89-yard touchdown catch and run by Jerry Jeudy in the first half had the game tied at 14. Thankfully the defense tightened up after this, as they forced three punts and a turnover on downs on the Browns next four drives.

The Ugly: First three quarters of offense

Not too much was ugly about the Saints 21-point win, but if anything, they did get off to a slow start on Sunday. Through three quarters the offense scored twice but also punted three times and turned it over twice. They got going when they needed to in the fourth quarter, but hopefully if they start slow again it won’t be too late to mount a comeback in the second half.
