Beating the Ravens would be a huge win for Denver
Hyperbole aside, if the Denver Broncos can beat the Baltimore Ravens they would announce their return to the upper echelon of the league.
I know. They have a long way to go. Bo Nix is a rookie. The offense is inconsistent. Relying on them to carry the team to the playoffs feels possible, but not obvious.
Still the defense is so good that those issues seem to be ones that can be overcome. Ian St. Clair and I talked about the Broncos chances against the Ravens. Nix is coming off winning the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Month. His play has been improving each week. His throws are getting more accurate, and his command of the offense is bringing out the best in the players around him
Now, they get to play a “prove it” game against a Ravens team that is constantly listed as a true contender for the AFC Championship. If the defense can limit Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson, they have a chance at winning.
It will not be an easy game, and I just couldn’t bring myself to predict a win. What I do see on the horizon for Denver is a big run down the stretch. A good game here, and perhaps a stolen win could be the catalyst for just that. A run to the playoffs in the second half of the season.
