Either way, a losing streak gets snapped tonight
This crummy week of football for San Francisco 49ers fans ends tonight, with the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Houston Texans. If the 49ers aren’t going to do anything, we can at least laugh at the Cowboys.
The Cowboys are a mess, and that’s putting it lightly. Quarterback Dak Prescott is out for the season, backup Cooper Rush hasn’t done much of anything, and third-stringer Trey Lance doesn’t seem like an option. They have pass rusher Micah Parsons back, which has helped, but that’s all the Cowboys have. Many are guessing head coach Mike McCarthy will get relieved of duties when the offseason hits, but you have to wonder if Cowboys owner Jerry Jones pressed that button a bit earlier.
The Texans have their own issues, battling a two-game losing streak. They will need to win to keep their hold on the AFC South. It might not be much to worry about; the South is a disaster, with the only competition to the Texans being the Indianapolis Colts, who are a game behind. There are still some things to take away from the Texans, namely quarterback C.J. Stroud, who has hit a bit of a rough patch.
Regardless, the Texans have much more riding tonight than the Cowboys do. It’s safe to assume the Cowboys are done without their starting quarterback. As a 49ers fan, seeing Trey Lance hit the field might be the only positive for the game.
FanDuel Sportsbook has the Texans favored by 7.5 points. Even with that point spread, the Cowboys are even worse. Take the Texans to cover and kick back on this one. Watch the chaos. Laugh at the Cowboys. Know that as bad as things are, at least the 49ers aren’t the Cowboys.
The over-under is set at 41.5 points. Take the over. Garbage time touchdowns are a thing, and I think it will get over that amount before it’s said and done. I’m not confident, but I like those points.
