Stephen A. Smith popped up on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown ahead of the Monday Night Football matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens and got promptly roasted for the outfit he was wearing.
SAS — who some sports fans are considered will pull a similar “crash the set” move when ESPN begins broadcasting Inside the NBA next season — rocked up to the Monday Night Countdown set wearing an all-black outfit, a backwards hat and sunglasses in a look that could best be described as giving off “How do you do fellow kids?” energy.
The response of social media was virtually unanimous, with many sports fans clowning on Smith for not dressing as someone his age should.

“1987 called, they want their fit back,” one sports fan said of Smith’s outfit.
“I turned on the TV, saw the fit, said who does he think he is and turned the TV off,” added another.
“Looking like he’s ready to be a back up dancer for Kris Kross video,” a third chimed in.
“Stephen A in reg clothes always looks like a f—— undercover cop.”
“Stephen A. Smith out here looking like the Steve Buscemi meme in real life.”

The MNF matchup between the Chargers and Ravens, which saw Jim and Jon Harbaugh face off for the third time in their NFL careers, saw John and the Ravens walk away with a 30-23 victory to improve to 8-4 on the season.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, the defending NFL MVP, beefed up his resume to win the award fr the third time in his career as he completed 16 of 22 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for a touchdown.
As for the aforementioned concerns about Inside the NBA, some sports fans have begun worrying that SAS’ ego will result in him forcing his way alongside Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal, and Charles Barkley went ESPN begins broadcasting the iconic NBA pre-and-postgame show at the start of the 2025/26 season.
