Steelers vs. Giants MNF Game Recap

Pittsburgh just keeps on winning.

It’s Monday so you know what that means, Monday Night Football. This week's matchup is NFC vs AFC, New York Giants vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. The first half of this game was a field goal kicking contest. Each team kicked 3 field goals in the first half, making it a 9-9 ballgame going into the second half. Even though it was a bunch of field goals in the first half, I would still say it was a pretty entertaining first half overall. Each team made big plays, whether it was a Darius Slayton reception going for 43 yards or Najee Harris running up and down the field, ending the first half with 58 yards rushing.

The second half of this game started off pretty slow, until we got our first touchdown of the game with 4:58 left in the third quarter. This score was an electric 73-yard punt return for a touchdown by Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin lll. This score is what broke the game open for the Steelers giving them a 9-16 lead late in the third quarter. Austin wasn’t done after that first amazing touchdown, he decided to add on to his already great night with another touchdown, this time a 29-yard touchdown catch to give the Steelers a 23-9 lead. This game looked like it was about to get out of hand for the Giants but after a 45-yard touchdown run by Tyrone Tracy Jr. the Giants were right back in it, making it a 23-15 game. Each team would kick one more field each and the game would be over after a Daniel Jones interception on the last drive of the game. The Steelers get the win on Monday Night Football 26-18.

The Steelers just keep getting wins no matter who they start under center. Russell Wilson has been great ever since becoming the starter, and tonight was no different. Russell threw for 278 yards and a touchdown in last night's game, while Najee Harris ran for 114 yards. The Steelers moved the ball well all night long, it just took them till the third quarter to cash those drives in with touchdowns. They improved to 6-2 on the season, putting them right in the middle of the playoff picture in the AFC. The Giants on the other hand move to 2-6 with this loss, making them one of the worse teams in the NFL. They did however show fight this game, after it seemed like the Steelers were about to run away with the game, they kept it close till the very end.
