The draft is in the books, and now it’s time to track the players the Seahawks add who did not hear their name called during the three days of the draft.
The three days of fun known as the 2024 NFL Draft have come to a close.
Which means that it is time for the post-draft frenzy of undrafted free agency to begin. The Seattle Seahawks will be competing with the 31 other teams across the league to convince those players who did not hear their name called during the draft that Seattle should be home.
There is a rich tradition of undrafted free agents finding success with the Seahawks during the tenure of general manager John Schneider, and it’s all but certain that the team will be playing that up as they recruit to build out the roster. Some of the most noteworthy undrafted free agents for the Hawks under Schneider have been Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse, George Fant, Poona Ford, Bryan Mone and Jon Rhattigan, though there have certainly been others.
As for how many spots there are available for undrafted free agents, the Seahawks started Saturday morning with 68 players on the roster, meaning there were 22 open roster spots. With the six players taken on Day 3 of the draft, that leaves 16 spots available for undrafted free agents, along with additional spots for those players invited to participate in rookie minicamp.
Field Gulls will work to keep fans abreast of all the reported signings and additions the Seahawks make as the front office works to fill out the roster after the draft.
