Seattle Seahawks cornerback Coby Bryant made the biggest play of his young NFL career on Sunday when he picked off Cardinals QB Kyler Murray and returned the ball 69 yards for a touchdown. The play proved to be pivotal for the Seahawks in a 16-6 victory that moved them into first place in the NFC West.

But it will also cost Bryant a pretty nice chunk of change. That’s because the third-year corner decided to pay homage to Marshawn Lynch’s iconic “hold my…” celebration. Because we are a family website I will not fill in the entirety of the quote. But you guys know the one.

You can’t blame Bryant for his excitement. I mean, how many opportunities is he truly going to have to score a touchdown in the NFL. And if you’re on the Seahawks and playing at Lumen Field, you have to do the team’s most iconic celebration after a game-changing touchdown.

Coby Bryant Should Have Learned From Jameson Williams With ‘Hold My…’ Celly

But perhaps Bryant should’ve spoken to Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams before attempting the celebration. Williams did the same celebration a week ago after a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars and he quickly learned that comes with a cost. The league fined Williams $19,697 for what it deemed “Unsportsmanlike Conduct (obscene gestures).”

Surprisingly, neither Bryant nor Williams were fined for the gesture. But Bryant says that he knows what’s coming when it comes to the fine.

“I don’t think I’ve ever run that fast,” he said of the touchdown after the game. “I know I’m going to get fined, so hopefully Marshawn saw it.”

Who knows, maybe Lynch will step up and pay for the fine for Bryant? But the spur-of-the-moment celebration is one that is likely priceless for Bryant and could prove the same for Seattle if it wins the NFC West.
