Saturday Dawg Chow (10/5): Scouting the Commanders, tackling issues, former Browns shine and more!

The latest Cleveland Browns news and notes from around the NFL in the Saturday Dawg Chow.

The Cleveland Browns find themselves in a tough situation heading into Week 5 of the NFL season.

The offense continues to struggle to find its rhythm, which has left the Browns are the only team without 300 yards of offense in a single game this season. The defense has forgotten how to tackle, which is kind of important in the NFL, and has lost its mojo from last season.

To rub some salt into the wound for Browns fans, a national TV audience watched on Thursday night as former Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield threw three touchdown passes for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - giving him 11 on the season, or as many as Cleveland quarterback Deshaun has since the start of the 2023 season. The nation also saw former Cleveland wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge score the game-winning touchdown in overtime for the Atlanta Falcons - no drops in a key spot for him!

It has been one of those weeks, and Sunday’s tilt against the Washington Commanders, who are riding high on a three-game winning streak, could only add to the discomfort.

Winning cures a lot of ills, and if the Browns can pull it together they can pick up a much-needed victory on Sunday.

That is tomorrow’s problem, however, so let’s kick off today with the Saturday edition of the Daily Dawg Chow!
