Austin Deculus is joining the Saints practice squad.

The New Orleans Saints have signed former LSU offensive tackle, Austin Deculus, to their practice squad.

Deculus was a four-year starter at LSU from 2018-2021. He played over 3,300 career snaps and was the team’s starting right tackle during their national championship run in 2019.

Deculus was drafted in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He didn’t play as a rookie and totaled 39 snaps in 2023 where he posted a 64.6 run blocking grade and a 53.6 pass blocking grade.

Deculus signed with the New York Jets this offseason and played 117 snaps in the preseason. In week one of the preseason, Deculus played 30 snaps and didn’t allow a single pressure, but in the Jets third preseason game, he surrendered five pressures on 55 snaps.

He adds some much-needed depth on the offensive line, and it never hurts to keep a former Tiger stashed away.
