New Orleans has created $3.5M in cap space following this move.

The New Orleans Saints have reworked Johnson’s deal to free up $3.5M in cap space prior to the start of the 2024 regular season.

After signing with the Saints as an UDFA in 2020, the former Oregon Ducks WR has found a home in New Orleans as a TE. Johnson signed a one-year contract with the team in 2022, and after thriving in his new role, he later earned him self a two-year $12M deal with the Saints in 2023.

The Saints could benefit from this move by adding veteran depth to the offensive line. However, with the team working out multiple receivers on Monday, it could also indicate they are preparing to sign someone at that position.

Juwan also attended and spoke at the Touchdown Club of New Orleans’ dinner last night. This aligns with what we have seen in the past regarding Johnson’s desire to build a connection with the city and give back to the community. Since joining the team, the soon to be 28-year-old has been a class act and a perfect representation of what it means to be a Saint.
