New Orleans’ offensive line receives a much-needed boost just four days before the season opener.

New Orleans Saints second-year G Nick Saldiveri made his return to practice on Monday following a calf injury suffered in late July.

After the Saints finalized their initial 53-man roster, HC Dennis Allen mentioned that he expected Saldiveri to rejoin the team soon. This was evident by the former fourth-round NFL Draft pick’s presence at practice on Monday as New Orleans prepares for their home opener against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. After missing over a month with a nagging calf injury and sitting out the entire preseason, Saldiveri is set to re-engage in his competition with veteran G Lucas Patrick for the starting LG position.

The Saints are high on Saldiveri as a player, though staying healthy has been a challenge for the 6’6”, 316lbs. OL. Seeing significant improvement from the 24-year-old would be ideal for the Saints, as their future on the offensive line has been in question throughout the offseason.
