The Minnesota Vikings made a minor roster move on Monday following their Week 12 road win over the Chicago Bears, releasing 26-year-old tight end Nick Muse.
Minnesota announced the release of Nick Muse at 4:15 p.m. EST. The timing of the news couldn’t be much more cruel to Muse and his family, because the third-year TE turns 26 years of age today.
If that’s not sad for Muse and his family to begin with? This isn’t even the first time that they’ve dealt with an unfortunate NFL roster transaction.
As noted by the ML Football X/Twitter account, Nick Muse’s older brother, Tanner, was let go by the Las Vegas Raiders on his Sept. 6 birthday a few years earlier (they stated 2020, but it was actually in 2021).
You really can’t make that up. At any rate, we wish Nick a happy birthday and hope that his family will manage to make the most of it.
If anything, Nick Muse can look up to his brother for inspiration. Tanner Muse (a linebacker out of Clemson) was let go by the Raiders but landed with the Seattle Seahawks soon after, and he has also made stops with the Los Angeles Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Nick played college football at William & Mary and South Carolina before the Vikings drafted him in the seventh round (227th overall) in 2022. Certainly, this is not the end of his professional football career. He’s just gotta keep his head up and await the next opportunity.
The 26-year-old Muse suited up in 15 NFL games over his three seasons with the Vikings, suiting up for 10 games alone in his 2022 rookie year. Muse has one reception for 22 yards, which took place in a Week 18 game against the Detroit Lions last year.
