Report: Colts QB Anthony Richardson to train with Bears top pick Caleb Williams before camp

Two of the top young dynamic NFL starting quarterbacks will be training together before team training camps begin.

According to his personal coach Will Hewlett, Chicago Bears #1 overall pick Caleb Williams will be training with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, along with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (*it’s unclear if all three will train together simultaneously, but all three are former/current Hewlett coached proteges):

Last year, Hewlett served as a pre-draft personal quarterbacks coach for then Colts rookie Anthony Richardson, focusing on fine-tuning his throwing mechanics and footwork.

The year before it was San Francisco 49ers breakout star quarterback Brock Purdy.

This offseason, it appears as though he’s taking a vested coaching interest in one of the newest rookie quarterback sensations, Bears’ top pick Caleb Williams.

For what it’s worth, Hewlett offered high praise for Richardson’s ‘fantastic memory and organizational skills’ this past April from his overall tutelage of the Colts dual-threat passer:

Last offseason, Richardson trained with former Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew, who’s also been a Hewlett client, down in Florida.

This time of year, it appears as though one of his training partners will include Williams—along with potentially Purdy. It’s a good opportunity for some top young quarterbacks to get together, ‘share some notes,’ and really push one another with their offseason training.

Richardson’s Colts are actually scheduled to host the rookie Williams’ Bears during Week 3 (9/22) of this year’s regular season, so the two will see one another again during 2024.
