Ravens add former All-Pro cornerback to practice squad

The Ravens signed former Texans slot cornerback Desmond King II to their practice squad on Tuesday.

The Baltimore Ravens signed Desmond King II to their practice squad on Tuesday, per KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson.

King is an eight-year veteran with 56 starts and 106 total appearances in his NFL career, primarily as a slot corner though he did start on the boundary in 2021 and 2022. He earned a first-team All-Pro selection in his sophomore year after being drafted in the fifth round by the Chargers in 2017.

King brings a ton of experience as a nickel back with Arthur Maulet dealing with a short-term calf injury and Kyle Hamilton taking more snaps as a traditional safety. He played exclusively special teams in his one appearance this year, so he will need some time to get up to speed in Baltimore’s defense before taking the field.

After an encouraging debut by trade deadline acquisition Tre’Davious White on Sunday, the Ravens will be hoping that King can follow the path of his fellow veteran cornerback and contribute to the secondary this season.

More to come.
