2nd-year tight end played extensively

Let’s look at how the Las Vegas Raiders 2023 draft class has fared in a 34-19 Week 11 road loss at the Miami Dolphins and what to expect in a Week 12 home game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. PT.

Seven of the nine players from the draft class are currently in the program. The Raiders cut third-round pick Byron Young and he was claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles. He was inactive in Week 1. Seventh-round pick, defensive tackle Nesta Jade Silvera was cut in Week 7 and is now on the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad.

Tyree Wilson:

The No. 7 overall draft pick played just 23 snaps, which is tied for his second lowest snap count of the season. He did have his second sack of the season on a strip fumble that Miami recovered.

Michael Mayer:

Mayer played 52 percent of teh snaps and had one catch (on three targets) for five yards. The second-round pick from Notre Dame was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list. and missed six games for personal reasons. He should be a big part of the offense moving forward.

Tre Tucker:

The speedy third-round pick has been getting starter’s reps now that Davante Adams has been traded. He had three catches for 28 yards and played 89 percent of the snaps. Tucker is getting a lot of playing time but not making a big impact..

Jakorian Bennett:

The fourth-round pick injured his shoulder on the second play of the game and did not return. It’s a big blow if the injury lingers. He’s been good this season.

Aidan O’Connell:

The fourth-round pick broke his thumb in the first quarter in Week 7 and will reportedly miss 4-6 weeks while he is on the injured reserve. He is eligible to return in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He should be the starter when he is healthy.

Chris Smith:

The fifth-round safety from Georgia played a season-low 14 snaps on special teams at Miami.

Amari Burney:

The sixth-round pick played a season-high 13 snaps at linebacker and 20 on special teams in Week 11.

Conclusion:

It will be interesting to see if Wilson plays more against Denver and the Raiders would like keep getting the ball to Mayer. Bennett’s health is key as well.
