Nathan Rourke had re-signed with New England ahead of the 2024 league year.

A depth chart of five now stands at four for the New England Patriots.

The organization has waived quarterback Nathan Rourke, according to a report Monday morning from ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Rourke, 25, arrived as a waiver claim via the Jacksonville Jaguars in December. He went on to dress as both the emergency signal-caller and top backup before season’s end. The British Columbia native later re-signed as an exclusive-rights free agent ahead of the 2024 league year.

By way of Fort Scott Community College and Ohio University, Rourke was chosen in the second round of the 2020 CFL draft. The former first-team All-MAC selection, whose Bobcats career brought 7,457 passing yards, 2,639 rushing yards and 121 combined touchdowns, would spend a pair of campaigns with the BC Lions.

He completed 307-of-406 passes for 4,103 yards with 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions over that span. Added on the ground were 415 yards and 12 scores on the way to being named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2022.

Following a series of workouts, Rourke entered the NFL ranks with the Jaguars as the calendar turned to 2023. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound QB made two stops each on the practice squad and active roster in Jacksonville before heading to Foxborough.

His departure leaves veteran Jacoby Brissett, holdover Bailey Zappe and 2024 draft picks Drake Maye and Joe Milton III in the room.
