The Panthers continue to add rare athletes to their roster

To kick off Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panther used pick number 101 to select Ja’Tavion Sanders, the athletic tight end from Texas. Despite being overshadowed by Xavier Woods and AD Mitchell, Sanders quietly had a good season that earned him first team All Big 12 honors. The 6’4”, 245-pounder ran a 4.69 forty at the NFL Combine. Sanders is definitely more of a receiving threat than an inline blocker, so he should mesh well with the current tight ends on the roster in terms of play style. Also, Sanders wore number 0 in college, which has recently come available on the Panthers.

So far, the Panthers have been leaning toward athleticism and physical traits over polish. The first two days of the Draft saw the Panthers get more athletic at wide receiver, running back, and linebacker. They have now done the same in the tight end room.
