The Miami Dolphins are on to their bye week, sitting out the Week 6 NFL schedule. We take a look at their AFC East division rivals schedules and their odds for winning this weekend.
The Miami Dolphins' 2024 schedule includes a Week 6 bye week, giving the team this weekend off and a chance to rehab any injuries and make any coaching and game-planning adjustments before they head into the final 12 weeks of the year. It will be a relatively stress-free weekend for Dolphins fans, who will not have to worry about the performance of the team, the play calling, and whether another key contributor will succumb to the injury bug that has plagued the team early this season.
It also means we can check in on the AFC East. The Dolphins are currently tied with the New York Jets for the second spot in the division at 2-3. That puts both teams a game behind the 3-2 Buffalo Bills and a game ahead of the 1-4 New England Patriots. How will things change this weekend when the Dolphins are not on the field?
According to FanDuel sportsbook, the Dolphins might come away in pretty good shape based on the odds for this weekend’s games.
Line: Texans -7
Moneyline: Texans -320 | Patriots +260
Total: 38.5 points
The Patriots are 1-4 on the year, coming off a loss to the Dolphins in Week 5. They a touchdown underdogs at home against the Texans, with the oddsmakers clearly thinking the Texans will come away with the Week 6 win and drop the Patriots to a 1-5 record.
Sunday Night Football
Line: Bills -2.5
Moneyline: Bills -142 | Jets +120
Total: 40.5 points
The Bills and Jets face off in an AFC East showdown on Sunday Night Football, bringing a good news/bad news situation for the Dolphins. At least one of the two teams will lose. It is probably a little surprising that the Jets, who just fired head coach Robert Saleh, are only 2.5-point underdogs to the Bills. There seems to be some concern that Buffalo is starting to show signs that the talent loss they sustained during the offseason are starting to catch up to them. This will be a fun game to watch, even if Miami would prefer both teams to lose.
