With 2 weeks until the NFL trade deadline, rumors are likely to swirl around the Browns
With a 1-6 record and currently in line for the third pick in the upcoming NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns will likely be linked to a ton of rumors as the NFL trade deadline approaches. The rumors of DE Myles Garrett drawing calls from teams is not surprising but the return would have to be huge.
More realistic have been the rumors that Za’Darius Smith, as well as Jack Conklin, could be available and provide Cleveland with a significant return of some kind. Neither were listed among our most tradeable players but have value around the NFL.
Smith seems the most likely to be moved especially given Conklin’s injury history and an undisclosed injury that caused him to leave Week 7’s game.
According to Brad Stainbrook of The OBR, three teams including an AFC North rival are among those interested in Smith:
The 32-year-old Smith started his career with the Baltimore Ravens with Cleveland being his fourth team in 10 seasons. In that time, Smith has accumulated 64 sacks but made his money by pressuring the quarterback with 161 QB hits in that time.
This offseason, Smith signed a two-year contract with the Browns with some backloaded void years which would make him cheaper for an acquiring team which could help the trade compensation in return.
Do you think Smith will get traded in the next two weeks before the NFL trade deadline? If so, what draft compensation do you think the Browns will get in return for him?
