NFL Picks Week 7: The Night HE Came Home
Canal Street Chronicles Canal Street Chronicles

Week 6 featured the Saints seemingly bottoming out at home. What will Week 7 have in store? Let’s take a look at all of this week’s action to find out.

The New Orleans Saints host the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football to kickoff Week 7 in the NFL. The Broncos sit at 3-3 and are keeping afloat in the AFC West, while the Saints find themselves at 2-4 and have sunken to third place in the NFC South. Both teams could potentially leave this game with the same record, but their paths feel completely divergent.

The story of this game, for years now actually, is the return of Sean Payton. But it's not just Payton, as he brings nine coaches and ten players that were all previously a part of the Saints organization, some as early as 2006 and as late as earlier this month, in the case of A.T. Perry. To make the return of Sean Payton and his band of former Saints even grander, future NFL Hall of Famer Drew Brees will be honored at halftime with an induction into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame with his former coach in the building.

Despite the reasons to reminisce the glory days of the past, there is currently a sense of hopelessness, a shroud of darkness that has fallen over the Saints fanbase that has become increasingly difficult to get past. Should the Saints lose this game, major changes need to be made within the organization in order to salvage any hope going forward. Honestly, if the Saints pull off this win, it's still clear changes still need to be made within the organization in order to salvage any hope for the future. Hopefully, the Saints can pull off the upset, going into a mini bye after this week.

Now let’s take a look at this and all of the matchups in Week 7.

Thursday, October 17th - Thursday Night Football

Broncos(3-3) at Saints(2-4)

Let’s get to the point. The Sean Payton aura will permeate and consume every aspect of this game. Both teams are dealing with critical injuries, but the Saints are crippled by them currently. Rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler is basically playing with the offense he had in his preseason playing time, with the exception of an injury-compromised Alvin Kamara. Offensive Coordinator Klint Kubiak will have to come up with a masterpiece of a gameplan in order to give his talented, but young quarterback a chance against Vance Joseph’s top ten defensive unit from Denver.

Sean Payton’s pettiness will be on full display, as he, offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, and senior offensive assistant Pete Carmichael will put together a gameplan to enact their revenge on the Saints. Not the players, not the fans, (well... in Carmichael’s case, probably the fans) but on the organization. Payton will accentuate the strengths of his...
