NFL Picks Week 1: One More Time

NFL Picks Week 1: One More Time
Canal Street Chronicles Canal Street Chronicles

The 2024 NFL season kicks off with an interesting slate of matchups. Here are the predictions for Week One.

The kickoff of the 2024 New Orleans Saints season begins with a cautious trepidation in New Orleans. This Saints team enters the season with a new offensive coordinator in Klint Kubiak, and with his hire comes a new offensive philosophy in New Orleans for the first time in nearly two decades. The new offensive scheme is a welcome change, but personnel concerns have left some fans with doubt.

There are high expectations for the Saints to compete for the division title but do have what it takes to become the third host city team to play for the Lombardi Trophy next February in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans? They can certainly attempt to shock the league. Their hopeful path home to the Superdome in February begins here in Week 1.

In truth, despite the failures of the past three seasons, the Saints haven’t been away from the NFC contention scene for very long time, much like their skid from 2014-2016, but these Saints have to get themselves to believe one more time. They have to get the fans to believe one more time. They have to get New Orleans to believe one more time. Before time runs out.

All season and postseason, I will be presenting you with each and every game on the NFL schedule along with my pick for each game. It’s been a long wait for this season to begin, so let’s get started.

WEEK 1

Thursday, September 5th - NFL Kickoff 2024

Ravens at Chiefs

A season ago, the reigning Super Bowl Champion Chiefs lost at home to Detroit in the 2023 NFL Kickoff game, now Kansas City faces the team they beat to get to the Super Bowl last season. KC won't drop a second-straight home opener in primetime on “banner night”. Kansas City wins 29-24.

Pick: Chiefs

Friday, September 6th - NFL São Paulo Game

Packers at* Eagles - Corinthians Arena - São Paulo, Brazil

Green Bay aims to continue from their late season and playoff success last season, while Philly looks to erase the memories from their late season swoon and playoff failure a season ago. Both teams have the opportunity to begin this season where they want, in this international showdown from Brazil. Philly will be the one with the hot start here. Philadelphia wins 31-28.

Pick: Eagles

Sunday, September 8th - Early Games

Steelers at Falcons

Atlanta is the current media darling in the division going into this season, and their performance here at home against Russell Wilson and Pittsburgh looking to find their footing early in the season, will only feed those flames. Atlanta wins 34-23.

Pick: Falcons

Cardinals at Bills

It is a season of big personnel changes in Buffalo, but those changes won't impact them much here against the Cards. Buffalo wins 24-20.
