Ever since Daniel Jones was drafted, New York Giants supporters have been arguing over his merits.

The media has already begun speculating about pivot possibilities for the New York Giants in 2025 because Daniel Jones will be under so much pressure during the 2024 season.

A “super early” 2025 mock draft from ESPN‘s Jordan Reid features the New York Giants finding their replacement. Reid wants the Giants to adopt the Philadelphia Eagles’ strategy and choose quarterback Carson Beck of the Georgia Bulldogs with their first pick in the upcoming spring draft.

“The Giants showed some faith in Daniel Jones recapturing his 2022 form off his torn ACL this season by passing on the quarterbacks still on the board at No. 6,” Reid wrote. “But things could change by this time next year, especially since there will be no more guaranteed money on Jones’ contract.”

Despite having the chance to select a quarterback from probably one of the most competitive draft classes in recent memory, as Reid pointed out, the Giants gave Jones another weapon by selecting LSU wideout Malik Nabers with the sixth pick.

Next time around, Reid argues, the Giants won’t be so patient.

“Beck is one of the most talented QBs in the country, as he finished the 2023 season with a 72.4% completion rate (fourth-best in FBS) and an 86 QBR (fifth).”

Jones and the Giants reached an agreement on a four-year, $160 million extension just before the May 2023 franchise tag deadline. The former first-round pick will receive $82 million in salary during the first two years of the deal, with New York having the option to opt-out before the 2025 campaign.

In 2021–22, Beck trailed Stetson Bennett in the Bulldogs’ back-to-back national championship teams, although he made an impression on his first starting tour the previous season. When the Georgia football season kicks off in Atlanta this August against Clemson, he is anticipated to take the field as the starting quarterback once again. A highly-touted prospect from his native Jacksonville, Beck led Georgia to a 13-1 record while racking up 24 touchdown passes.

Reid says the Giants need to trade with the Carolina Panthers for the top pick in this premature mock to get Beck.

“We don’t know which team will have the No. 1 pick next year, but I could certainly see the Giants making a call to whoever it is to try to get there,” Reid wrote. “The Giants would have to package something in the ballpark of a second-rounder and their 2026 first-rounder — but it’s too early to map all of that out.”
