Every NFL franchise is allowed to invite up to 30 draft prospects to visit their facilities and meet with the members of the organization before the NFL Draft. These selections range from first-round targets to players who might be available as undrafted free agents. As news about the New England Patriots Top 30 visits surface, Patriots Football Now will highlight each of the visitors. Today’s feature is Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton.

College Career

Tyler Guyton was a three-star prospect in 247 Sports composite rankings coming out of Manor High School in Manor, Tex. He ranked as the No. 902 overall player, No. 70 offensive tackle, and No. 110 player from Texas in the Class of 2020. This was especially impressive because Guyton did not play football until his senior year in high school. He was primarily a basketball player. Even when he joined the football team he was playing mostly defensive line, although he was projected to be an offensive lineman in college, which turned out to be the case.

Guyton committed to TCU, which was his only Division 1 scholarship offer at the time. He spent two seasons with the Horned Frogs before transferring to Oklahoma after the 2021 season.

With Texas Christian, Guyton appeared in one game as a true freshman in 2020. The following season he appeared in eight games, playing both offensive line and h-back. He had a six-yard touchdown reception in the final game of the year.

Guyton joined the Sooners before the 2022 season. He played left tackle in their first game of the season before moving over to the right side. Guyton played in ten games, starting five, and played over 400 snaps on the season. He allowed only four quarterback pressures (two sacks and two hurries) all season.

Tyler Guyton did not allow a single sack in 2023. He earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors. Guyton played exclusively at right tackle, playing 663 snaps. Despite not allowing a sack, Guyton did allow 12 pressures (three hits, nine hurries) an increase of eight from the previous season.

Pro Football Focus gave Guyton a 72.9 pass-blocking grade each of the past two seasons. However, his overall scores were 66.2 (2022) and 63.7 (2023) due to unimpressive run-blocking grades.

NFL Draft

Tyler Guyton received invitations to the Reese’s Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine. He was very impressive during practice week at the Senior Bowl, particularly in one-on-one drills, going against some of the draft’s top pass-rushers.

Guyton measured 6-foot-8 at the combine. He was honored on Patriots Football Now as one of the most impressive tackles in Indianapolis. He showed excellent footwork in positional drills. His 5.19 time in the 40-yard dash was unimpressive, but he appeared to move smoothly. Despite weighing 322 pounds, he looks...
