Your open thread for Monday night
We have a battle between New West Coast teams this week as The Los Angeles Rams face the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
It’s been most of a decade since Sean McVay kicked off something of a revolution in how the NFL plays offense.
Kyle Shanahan was hot on McVay’s heels in terms of offensive innovation, and with him came Mike McDaniel. McDaniel was hired by the Dolphins in 2022 and brought the Shanahan take on the new West Coast philosophy with him to Miami. Once there, McDaniel cranked the speed of the offense up to 11 and assembled the fastest group of skill position players in the NFL.
The Rams got off to a slow start to the season, starting 1-3 on the year, but have won 3 of their last four. The Dolphins, meanwhile, lost QB Tua Tagovailoa to yet another scary concussion. Tua has since been activated from the injured reserve, but the wins have yet to follow.

I’m going to go with the Rams for this game.
Both offenses have the potential to put up points, but things could get ugly for the Dolphins if this becomes a quarterback duel. The Dolphins’ offensive line has generally been pretty good in true pass sets, but the Rams’ duo of Byron Young and Jared Verse are on their way to becoming one of the best EDGE duos in the NFL.
This game has the potential to be wildly entertaining with fireworks in the fourth quarter, but the Rams have a bit more on both sides of the ball.
