Monday Night Football Open Thread: Houston Texans at Arlington Cokeboys
Battle Red Blog Battle Red Blog

The NFL equivalent of the Red River Shootout (since one of these teams is Oklahoman).

Once every four years, we get to relive the first matchup the Houston Texans ever played. For those of you too young to remember (personal note: crap, I’m old), the Texans’ first ever game in franchise history was a Monday night showdown against Quincy Carter and the Dallas Cowboys.

The Texans, understandably, were underdogs going into their first ever game; and, let’s be honest, the hype surrounding the Cowboys is as undeserved as it is unrelenting.

Funny how some things never change even after all these years.

And neither team has won a Super Bowl in that same span. Go figure.

Anyway, despite the odds, the Houston Texans won their first game in team history 19-10 against these Cowboys and in front of their owner Jerry Jones, who I’m pretty sure has not aged a day since then and that is not a compliment.

It seems fitting that this rematch is even on Monday Night Football again. The Texans come into tonight’s game reeling from the team’s first losing streak of the season.

If there is any justice in the universe, that losing streak ends tonight. We will know in a few short hours whether that is the case.

Here is what you need to know for tonight’s game:

Who: Houston Texans (6-4) vs. Dallas (disputed) Cowboys (3-6)

What: Monday Night Football

Where: Jerryworld, Arlington, TX (disputed)

When: Monday November 18, 7:15 pm CST

Why: Because it’s the Texans, you should be watching this game if, for no other reason, than that.

Channel: ESPN

And if you feel like making a little wager on tonight’s game at FanDuel Sportsbook, here are my picks, for what that’s worth.

Enjoy the game, y’all.

Go Texans!
