The New York Giants take on the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight on Monday Night Football
Monday Night Football, Week 8. Tonight the Pittsburgh Steelers host the New York Giants. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 pm EDT. The Steelers are 5.5 point home favorites against the Giants according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
The 2-5 New York Giants come into this game losers of two straight. In those two games the Giants have been outscored by a combined 45 - 10 score. Needless to say, these are dark times for the Giants. They have played well on defense, ranking 11th in the NFL in yards allowed, 6th in passing yards allowed and 5th in first downs allowed. The offense, however, has betrayed them. The Giants rank 27th in yards gained, 31st in points scored, and 25th in rushing yards gained. About the only bright spot in the Giants offense has been rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, who in just five games played has put up 427 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Nabers missed the last two weeks and the Giants offense collapsed. He’ll play in tonight’s game, so the Giants have some hope of improvement.
The 5-2 Pittsburgh Steelers come into this game off two straight dominant wins over the New York Jets and the Las Vegas Raiders. The Steelers have their usual excellent defense this season, ranking 6th in the NFL in yards allowed, 2nd in rushing yards allowed and 2nd in points allowed. On offense it’s been a different story. The Steelers rank 17th in points scored, 22nd in yards gained and 28th in passing yards. The Steelers responded to their offensive struggles by changing their starting quarterback last week against the Jets. Russell Wilson took over for Justin Fields, and the Steelers offense looked better, if still not great.
This game shapes up as two teams with good defenses and struggling offenses. Sounds like a formula for a tight defensive struggle. The Steelers have the better defense and they have struggled a bit less on offense. They also have home field advantage. Put that together and I’m taking the Steelers to prevail over the Giants tonight. If you bet, good luck to you, and please consider using our friends at FanDuel Sportsbook.
