The Miami Dolphins lost to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday by a score of 16-10. For a time in the first half, it looked like Miami was in complete control of the contest — even taking a 10-3 halftime lead.

Unfortunately, the team suffered two very costly fumbles in the second half that handed the Colts points, while keeping points from being scored by the Dolphins and the squad was unable to keep pace, ultimately falling on the road to drop the team’s record to a very disappointing 2-4.

One player who did his best to bring a victory to the South Florida squad was tight end Jonnu Smith.

Miami Dolphins Week Seven MVP - Jonnu Smith

Jonnu Smith was signed this offseason to bring a more dynamic player to the Dolphins’ tight end room. His athletic skillset was something Miami had been missing for many, many seasons, and plenty thought he would perfectly complement wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle in Miami’s dynamic passing attack.

That was until quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion against the Buffalo Bills in week two and Miami’s offense was put on ice for a few weeks.

On Sunday, Dolphins fans got a taste of what Smith can bring to Miami’s offense — nabbing seven receptions for 96 yards and the team’s lone touchdown. It was a performance that earned Smith the highest Pro Football Focus grade for any Dolphins player in week seven.

Let’s hope that Smith’s stellar play can continue when Tagovailoa returns against the Cardinals this weekend and the club can begin to stack wins in an effort to make the playoffs for a third consecutive season.
