It’s one of the AFC West’s best rivalries live from the EA Universe,
Here’s what happened in our simulation:
To start the game, Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs offense found it challenging to run the football against the Denver Broncos defensive line. They averaged less than two yards per carry on the first drive, but Patrick Mahomes still found a way to move down the field.
Mahomes connected with a streaking DeAndre Hopkins on the left side of the field for a 30-yard touchdown. Hopkins caught all three of Mahomes’ passes this quarter.
The Chiefs defense played outstanding. Didn’t give up a first down all quarter.
End of first quarter: Chiefs 7, Broncos 0
A Mahomes interception by Riley Moss led to only three points for the Broncos. The Chiefs suffered a setback during the Broncos’ field goal drive when Chris Jones exited the game with an injury.
The Chiefs traded field goals with the Broncos, maintaining their lead by a touchdown.
End of the second quarter: Chiefs 10, Broncos 3
The Chiefs’ offense finally regained momentum on their opening drive after halftime. They marched downfield with a 14-yard run by Kareem Hunt, a 12-yard catch by Hopkins, and a 37-yard play by Travis Kelce.
The Chiefs’ offense then stalled in the red zone, but Harrison Butker drilled a field goal to extend their lead to two scores.
End of the third quarter: Chiefs 13, Broncos 3
Halfway through the quarter, when most teams would run the football to drain the clock, the Chiefs had a different plan. Mahomes connected with his dynamic duo — Kelce and Hopkins — to drive deep into Broncos territory.
A 20-yard play by Hopkins was followed by a Kelce touchdown, putting the game out of reach.
The Chiefs’ defense continued to pressure Bo Nix, forcing errant throws. Chirs Jones made his way back to the field and collected a sack.
To add insult to injury, Kelce later scored his second touchdown of the game.
