Patrick Taylor Jr. was waived in anticipation of Christian McCaffrey returning
The San Francisco 49ers final injury report is out ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cornerback Charvarius Ward was ruled out. The 49ers sent multiple staff members to support Ward and his family at their daughter’s funeral:
“No players or coaches could go, unfortunately. I know [president of football operations/general manager John] Lynch went out there. I don’t know the exact number, but a number of our support staff. I know [senior director of player affairs & engagement] Austin [Moss], Pastor Earl. I got to FaceTime with Mooney yesterday. Lynch got to be at the service, I talked to him earlier today after it ended. It was a great service. He had a hell of a eulogy that he did, and he was very appreciative of everyone’s support throughout all this.”
Christian McCaffrey is technically listed as questionable, but once the 49ers take him off the Injured Reserve on Saturday, McCaffrey will be “good to go,” per Shanahan, “unless something crazy happens on this plane ride.” Shanahan acknowledged that McCaffrey had a good week of practice.
The 49ers waived running back Patrick Taylor Jr., anticipating that McCaffrey will play on Sunday.
Kyle Shanahan said it’s unlikely that Feliciano will be elevated to the active roster this week and that it would depend on the health of the other offensive lineman.
Shanahan said he was concerned about Nick Bosa’s availability this Sunday: “He wasn’t able to do a lot. He definitely was extremely limited. I hope he’ll be alright, but we’ll see on Sunday.” Shanahan said that Bosa banged into somebody and “got a little hip pointer” that bothered him early on during Wednesday’s practice.
The depth at edge rusher is thin if Bosa can’t play. Yetur Gross-Matos was ruled out. Here’s the official injury report:
OUT:
CB Mooney Ward (personal)
DT Kevin Givens (groin)
WR Chris Conley (hamstring)
DE Yetur Gross-Matos (knee)
QUESTIONABLE:
DE Nick Bosa (hip)
RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles)
WR Deebo Samuel (rib, oblique)
S Malik Mustapha (calf)
Kicker Jake Moody healed quicker than anticipated and should return this Sunday:
“More than it. I have a lot of experience with high ankle sprains and they’re one of the most aggravating, annoying injuries that a player can get. I didn’t have any experience with a kicker getting it, especially on his kicking foot. So I just assumed that would be IR and stuff and especially on his kicking foot. But I was kind of surprised he said it would be worse on his plant foot, just me not understanding truly how to kick. So I was surprised he came back by now, but he’s looked great this week and it’s been awesome to have him back. He should be good to go here on Sunday.”
