The Denver Broncos have a rich history of iconic quarterbacks. From John Elway to Peyton Manning, the franchise has seen its share of greatness. Now, a new star is starting to emerge: Bo Nix.
The rookie is already making waves, with his name now being thrown around as a possible Offensive Rookie of the Year award winner.
Even though Nix and Elway have yet to meet in person, the Hall of Fame quarterback is taking notice.
“I have not had a lot of interaction [with Nix]. Since I’ve retired, I’ve kind of enjoyed the good life and been traveling a little bit. So I haven’t had a chance to really get over and spend a lot of time with Bo,” Elway said via The Adam Schefter Podcast. “But I think he’s in great hands, and it’s fun to watch … him work. It’s fun to watch Sean [Payton] put him in the situations, what they’re doing offensively.”
Legendary Broncos QB John Elway never has met nor spoken with Bo Nix – but he does admire all he’s doing during his rookie season in Denver.

After being drafted by the Broncos, Nix landed in one of the more ideal situations coaching-wise. Payton has a history of being a bit of a quarterback whisperer. And while it is still very early in Nix’s young career, Payton and the Broncos have got to be happy with the results they are seeing so far.
“Sean keeps giving him more and more each week because he can handle more,” said Elway. “So I think it’s a great combination of coaching on Sean’s part and his staff as well as Bo’s maturity level, experience level to where he’s done a tremendous job. And it’s exciting to see the Broncos playing the way they’re playing.”

With Elway enjoying retirement, he doesn’t really have an official role with the Broncos organization anymore. However, he is still very much invested in the team’s performance. He is excited to hopefully one day meet Nix, and is willing to offer him any advice if he needs it.
“He’s going to get a bunch of advice going into this first year, right? And if I could help him [in] any way, I would like to,” said Elway. “But obviously, he’s getting great tutelage now with the coaching he’s got and the situations he’s in. So I look forward to meeting him.”
