J.K. Dobbins has been on pace this season to record his first 1,000-yard rushing season of his career.
Running back J.K. Dobbins was making an early impact against the Ravens on Monday night with 40 rushing yards and 19 receiving yards before being forced to leave the game with a knee injury. With about five minutes remaining in the first half, Dobbins was seen walking to the locker room with trainers. He later came back to the sidelines with a brace on his knee.
Following the game head coach Jim Harbaugh could not speculate much on the severity of Dobbins’ knee injury and fans were left waiting in suspense about immediate future of their RB1. On Wednesday morning, that news finally broke as NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Dobbins with dealing with a MCL sprain that will keep him out for “some time.”
Dobbins is already slated to miss this week’s game against the Falcons and it’s expected that he’ll be week-to-week for the immediate future.
Expect Gus Edwards to assume lead back responsibilities for the Chargers with rookie Kimani Vidal and Hasaan Haskins as his main backups. Haskins is mainly a special teams contributor so I’d be surprised if Vidal was not RB2 while Dobbins is on the mend.
