Let’s get the latest from the Big D:

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan said he’s not ruling out a contract extension for head coach Mike McCarthy.

“I don’t think that’s crazy at all. This is a Super Bowl-winning coach. Mike McCarthy has been there and done that. He has great ideas. We got a lot of football…

Alright! I know the Cowboys are butt this year, but is Mike McCarthy the biggest issue down there? He is not. The biggest problem is Jerry Jones, of course. Mike McCarthy didn’t give Dak Prescott $240 million. He didn’t create the CeeDee Lamb holdout situation. He pulled off three-straight 12-5 seasons and the reason they lost to the Packers last year is because Dan Quinn’s defense put up the resistance of Swiss cheese at Jerry World. The previous season, when they scored 12 points against the Niners, Kellen Moore was still the offensive coordinator. McCarthy wasn’t calling the plays.

So he’s far from the problem, but the optics of bringing the guy back after this season are gonna be bad. They’re 4-7 now and will finish what, maybe 6-11? They’ll win 2-3 more games max. When you rip off a half-decade of nothing, despite those three great years, then people wanna see change. Jerry doesn’t like change, though. If you ask him, everything is great! God bless Jerry and may he continue to GM the Cowboys in perpetuity.
