Browns roster movements include a new starting QB
The Cleveland Browns continue to have a lot of movement and a lot of things up in the air. As the NFL trade deadline draws near, the Browns have taken calls on DE Za’Darius Smith from at least three teams and others have gauged whether Cleveland would be interested in moving DE Myles Garrett.
While not rumored, to trade Garrett it would likely take an extremely high return for the Browns.
Cleveland also continues to have questions at quarterback. Deshaun Watson is out for the year and Dorian Thompson-Robinson has an issue with his finger. Bailey Zappe was signed on Tuesday to provide depth.
In Week 7, the Browns made Jameis Winston the inactive, emergency quarterback and promoted DTR. Winston has a lot of experience and, according to a report, was not demoted last week and will start this week:
Based on the above report, it does not seem like DTR’s injury is playing a role in the decision but Brad Stainbrook is reporting that the second-year QB will miss some time:
The Browns are not required to announce who is starting but will have to list participation levels at practice starting on Wednesday. HC Kevin Stefanski will likely not communicate their plan unless Thompson-Robinson is unable to play.
